merchants now have a chance to be selling one of these four packs much cheaper then Infinity express.
**Big Special Thanks to Steam user "The Honey Badger" for 100% helping me understand the merchantpool.config.patch method**

Civilian Grade Environment Protection Pack
Adds four Environment Protection Packs that can be bought at the Infinity express.

But theres a catch......always a catch? you didn't think there'd be one?

1.) They are quite expensive so you don't just buy the hot planet one and be on your way. 2000 for air, 4000 for rad, 6000 for heating, 8000 for cooling
2.) Since they are Civilian Grade you are unable to augment them
3.) and the worst part..........the only protect against one enviroment so ensure if you're going to use them you have the correct one on before beaming them.
4.) and the seriously worst part of all.....they're all dyed white....awful I know but if you're a hiking Civilian you would wear something obviously colored so if you got lost you'd stand out easier...right?

Why?
1.) I wanted to make a tier of Proection packs that would be suited to......Civilians,
and since Civilian things.....like a Civilian grade gun......scary.... is usually set to semi-auto with a much smaller mag i thought i'd do the same with these Environment Protection Packs.
2.) In the nightly builds these Environment Protection Packs functioned just like this.........if you were on a frozen ocean planet you had to keep swaping the oxygen and heating packs out to avoid the detrimental envirmental effects.
3.) for when you've got cash but aren't really bothered to make the pack...like you don't want to make the cooling pack only to get a few of those solarium stars to make the final tier of armor

This actually fits in with a question I have been asking for years

How come the player requires an EPP but npcs dont need one?
In My Glitch playthrough, I noticed that I still died in Heat-filled planets, while the Medieval Glitch just walk around like nothing is happening....

hope they serve you well. :)
once you do sell a couple of weapons you tend to be fairly well off anyways,

-_-
how is it OP?
yeah go buy the cooling pack and go to a lava planet early on with iron armor.

the player still needs to do the usual grind to get the armor and weapons to survive on these planets.....

right but you the player isn't a standard Civilian. :P

you're trained as a protectorate and have a Matter Manipulator tool.
you're able to use any weapon that comes into your possession and have vast knowledge of how to build things
as well as a personal ship with an AI and way to respawn should you die.
so you're pretty fearless in the face of death.

imagine a Civilian trying to live that life with no matter tool, no building knowledge or serious combat experience.....and only 1 life.

the EPPs that Civilians can purchase aren't as good as player made ones as they only protect against 1 type of environment and can't be augmented.
i was thinking more along the lines of colonists trying to find a new home and need an cheaper EPP that would protect them.

industries made them Cheap so they'd cut corners removing the augment funtion and muli-enviroment protection feature from some of them so it'd be cheaper to create.

how would Civilians afford it then? :^)

any more expensive and the player would be better of making it themself.
