The missing texture seems to be a common issue with this older method
This is probably because you had been playing portal 2 for a while before starting my map. For some reason I haven't been able to figure out, if you've been playing for a while the texture won't work, restarting seems to fix this problem. It's an issue with source that I can't fix.
