Spoiler-Free 100% Achievement Guide
By Dracaemelos
Goal: To get a first-time player to 100% achievement completion on a single playthrough - without spoiling the game. A spoiler is defined as information that would be likely to preempt or otherwise detract from the player's firsthand experience of the content. This guide is written in a walkthrough-like format, with frequent 'checks' and 'summaries' to help the player stay on track.

Forward - Why does this exist?
Spoiler-Free 100% Achievement Guide

The goal of this guide is to get a player to 100% achievement completion on a single playthrough without containing spoilers. A spoiler is defined as information that would be likely to preempt or otherwise detract from the player's firsthand experience of the content. I will not be avoiding ALL reference to ANYTHING that may exist in the game – but I will do my utmost to avoid information that you “shouldn’t know yet” prior to your exposition to it in-game.

The reason this exists is, I gave the two currently available Trails in the Sky games to several of my friends because I love the games so dearly that I wanted to share them, but I didn’t realize that there were those who only wanted to play the game one time through due to time constraints, but also wanted to get 100% completion on it in order to have a satisfying experience. I wouldn’t want them to have to look through a guide that does contain spoilers just in order to fulfill that combination of goals, so, I wrote this guide.

However, for this reason, it may be the case that if you don’t care about spoilers, it may be faster to look for the details in a guide that spells all the info out.

Now that that’s settled, let’s have a word about these achievements.
Assumptions + How this guide works
Tips for General Achievements and General Tips for Achievements

This game has 27 achievements in total. Some of them will automatically be completed if you complete others, such as progress-through-game achievements and do-subset-of-quests achievements. Others run the gamut of simple to complex. Appropriately timed/phrased advice will be provided in this guide regarding the completion of anything necessary for your 100% run – meanwhile, it is generally advised that you not look through the achievement list as a few of the titles are inherently a bit spoiler-like. Achievement names (only) will be provided under a spoiler mask, like this.

It is worth noting upfront that there are precisely two achievements which are not actually possible to get in one playthrough without ever loading a saved game from a slightly earlier point. Again, appropriately timed and phrased advice on attaining these along your same playthrough via strategically placed saved games will be provided.

Please take note of the following concerning certain of the achievements:
  1. Collect all weapons + collect all armors – there are several instances where you get ahold of the ones that are available to buy – for example, when a character wearing the equipment joins your party – so you won’t need to actually buy them for this achievement. All instances where you must buy any of these will be pointed out in the guide.
  2. Collect all recipes – you should buy *and eat* at least one of every food item you can find. Obtaining every one of these will be pointed out in the guide – just remember that you also have to eat them in order for this to work.
  3. Read all of [book series] – You should buy *and read* one of every distinct book volume that you do not already have that you can find in any store. There are two of these achievements, one of which is pretty straightforward, while the other is about the opposite of straightforward… this guide covers getting ahold of ALL necessary books; however, you must remember to read them in order for this to work.
  4. Get all the loot plus – be willing to provide one session of free counseling to each treasure chest you loot. It can be traumatic to have your only worldly possession taken from you, so at least hear them out afterwards.
    • P.S. – Use the minimap (default hotkey V) to ensure you are covering any side paths/areas that may exist on the route you are taking without actually going somewhere else away from your destination. The guide assumes that you will do this when counting what you should have found.
  5. Do all the quests perfectly (yes this is an achievement) – there are two important factors here.
    • Timing – advice on timing is given on every quest/set of quests in the game. However, it’s still good to keep this in mind: unless otherwise mentioned, if you see an available quest with (Short) term, do it immediately before advancing the main quest any further. Otherwise, you may miss the opportunity to do the quest at all. (Medium) term is okay if you are really checking at every opportunity between main quest actions, but in general do them right away.
    • Execution – if advice is given concerning how you are acting/accomplishing a quest, it will mean that there is a way to execute it that is not the best way. An achievement is at stake. You’ll be able to tell by monitoring your “BP” vs. the “BP” listed in the guide whether something has gone wrong, but as a result it is recommended to save before undertaking each quest. And if it has gone wrong, you should load said save.
As the guide moves forward in little sections, summaries will be given to count up new things found. Names (only) of items will be provided afterwards under spoiler text, like this.

Because we’re tallying up items here, “shopping advice” will be given sometimes. This is in no way meant to limit you to only buying stuff at that time – play however you want, you just have to make sure to buy the mentioned stuff at some point within limits made pretty clear by the game. This gives the guide the chance to match tally with yours (and you the chance to match up with the guide’s). Occasionally, you may find that you end up with items that the guide does not mention. This is A-OK, it just means you will also be able to get those later and later is where they will be mentioned.

You may see a parenthetical notification sometimes - (Achievement at stake.) Yes, everything in this guide is mentioned due to achievements always being at stake, but these serve as extra reminders at critical points (see general tip #5b above).

Finally, because you’re probably not playing this entire game in one sitting, you may notice that without any reference points, it’s really hard to keep track of where you are. In order to alleviate this, the name of the location you are in will be included under spoiler tags, like this. If you don’t want to see a place name, especially if you are reading the whole guide way ahead or something, please do not look under the spoiler tags that are labeled “Location”.
The aforementioned section summaries are also meant to assist you in keeping track of your progress.

All right – let’s go!
Ready, Set, Go!
Day 1 (Location: Bright Family House)

At the start of your interactive experience with the game, you will have basic equipment (counting as 2 weapons and 1 armor). You will have no progress on anything else...yet.

Names: Birch Staff, Twin Dirks, Leather Vest

You will be starting out with a pretty clear objective. Feel free to proceed with this objective all the way through, as it should remain very clear from start to finish. Simply keep in mind general tip #4: Hear the poor treasure chests out.
  • After the first main event of the day has concluded and you are free to roam about the city, it is a good idea to run your errands. You may also wish to visit the city’s residents in their homes and speak with them, since you never know when someone will decide they no longer need something that can help you out! (Achievement – NOT at stake – if you dislike this approach, watch for another way to obtain one of the items listed below.)
By the time you are ready to head out of the city, you should have earned 1 BP, obtained and read 2 books (not counting your profession-related books), eaten and learned 1 new recipe, collected a minimum of 2 distinct craftable job-related items hereafter referred to as quartz, and opened and spoken with 2 chests – 1 optional – for an ‘optional chest counter’ of 1.

(You are able to keep track of how many chests you have thoroughly visited on your Steam achievements page for Trails in the Sky under “Patient Plunderer”, BUT this counter can be a little bit delayed AND a few of the other achievements’ titles are spoileriffic, so please be careful. Oh, also note that one chest was unavoidable, so it does not count. There are no more chests like this.)

Once you head out of the city, you will again have a pretty clear objective. As you pursue this objective, just keep an eye on your surroundings (or minimap) to make sure you’ve covered dead-end side paths.
  • As a newly minted member of your profession, remember that in order to attain the highest reputation, it is important to keep a cool head and think about your actions rather than being heedless.
By the end of Day 1, as you go home, you should now have a total of 5 BP and should have opened and spoken with 2 new chests.

Day 2 (Location: Rolent)

Upon visiting the location where you would expect to find work according to your training, you will find some side quests for the first time. Keep in mind general tip #5a (do side quests immediately).
  • You can complete one simple side quest without leaving the city (follow its description), and report it for 2 BP.
  • Now that you’ve spoken with your boss, you will be able to travel in any direction you please for the first time. You will not *need* to travel in directions other than that prescribed by your main quest, yet.
  • Keep in mind that fancier-looking chests, being fancy as they are, sometimes retain the services of security guards.
  • In order to complete your other side quest, you must ‘go beyond’ your prescribed main quest. Should you encounter difficulty, you may consider ‘tactically’ keeping your distance and fighting fire with fire.
  • Keep your eyes open – if you should see an odd, mysterious little creature along your way, you may want to ‘charge up’ before fighting it so that you can use special skills. Don’t worry – you will still be able to find it again later in the same place if it gets away from you this time.
By the time you arrive at your main quest destination, you should have eaten and learned 1 new recipe and opened and spoken with 4 new chests.

You are now fine to proceed with your main quest. Once you are very clearly ‘beginning’ your job…
  • It is strongly advised to save your game prior to embarking on your main quest objective.
  • Remember, in order to become a truly reputable member of your profession, it is essential to get the job done right the first time. Once you spot your target, proceed slowly and carefully – considering small details like facing. (Moving the camera around as you go can help you determine this. Achievement at stake.)
Day 3 (Location: Perzel Farm)

Once you return to the city and report in to your boss (thoroughly), you should have a total of 13 BP and 1 more quartz. Check the place you expect to find side quests to find that more are now available!

Day 3, Continued (Location: Rolent)

Having finished your prestigious main quest, upon checking for more work in the usual location, you will see that more side quests have appeared. One is within the city, while the others all take you in the same direction as one another. Before speaking with your customer for the next main quest, you will want to do these side quests and report in to your boss, so head south.
  • You must explore the entire area in this direction, thoroughly (this includes beyond the areas specified in your quests, i.e. the destinations indicated by each of the signposts that you come across while exploring), and for the first time this guide assumes you buy whatever is available from the shop at the far end.
  • The deepest area is relatively dangerous; healing items are good. In addition, the layout can be a bit confusing. When in doubt, keep right at forks.
  • Speak with all your side quest customers to complete your side quests prior to starting the main quest.
Before speaking with your customer for the next main quest, you should have added 1 armor to your collection, eaten and learned 2 recipes, obtained 4 of a self-evident special ingredient, and opened and spoken with 2 chests.

  • Watch for branching paths within this area, especially between floors; but also make sure you have covered all paths within each floor in order to not miss chests and the items contained within. Watch out for ‘security guards’.
  • If you do not get everything before going to the roof you will have to come back afterwards to get the rest.
Before entering the building to report to your boss after completing this main quest, you should have added 1 weapon to your collection, eaten and learned 1 recipe, and opened and spoken with 5 chests.

  • Make sure you have searched every available area thoroughly and spoken with everyone *except* your mentor. You may want to refer to your professional logbook and save your game prior to speaking with your mentor.
  • Remember to base your conclusions on the evidence you have found, not on any presuppositions you might have left over from anything else. Any incorrect answers will make you seem less reliable as far as your employer is concerned. (Achievement at stake.)
  • After following some indicators on what to do next (without leaving the city), you will have a destination in mind, but will still have freedom to navigate.
  • If you have not yet defeated at least one of a small, quick, glowing creature in a thrice westerly direction from the city, you must do so now. You may need to ‘charge up’ so that you can use special skills to fight it. It will be near or on the road, near the eastern entrance – if you cannot find it, leave this area and then return as many times as necessary.
By the time you are ready to leave for your main quest destination, you will find that you have 1 more weapon, 1 more armor, and 5 more quartz. (This still assumes that you have not bought/synthesized any. Remember that this counts in any items currently equipped on characters.)

The same does NOT apply to the weapons, armor or recipes – you MUST buy those.)

You are now ready to embark on the main quest once again. Another save is recommended. You should be marginally familiar with your destination, but if in doubt, keep right.
  • Use common sense and exercise self-control. (Achievement at stake.)
  • If you have a tough time, you may want to try ‘tactically’ keeping a tight-knit group at a distance from the enemy, and enabling your characters to help each other out.
By the end of this day, you should have gotten your very first achievement.

Achievement: Why Is My Present a BOY?!

Day 4 (Location: Rolent)

Upon checking your professional logbook, you should find that you now have 53 BP. You will have a destination in your itinerary, but before you go, it never hurts to check for side quests…
  • Speak with your side quest customer before leaving the city.
  • Pay one last visit to the shops. As someone who ought to keep themselves apprised of current events, consider reading a newspaper over breakfast.
Before leaving this city, you should have obtained and read 1 new book and eaten and learned 1 new recipe.

You will not need to explore anywhere off-road before reaching the next city.
  • However, you can keep an eye on the south side of the road as you go, and take appropriate actions to resolve a situation that might require someone in your profession. If you see a side path split off your road, you’ve gone just barely too far. A save is recommended, and if you have trouble, exploiting group weaknesses is helpful.
  • Upon reaching the city, find your side quest customer first to complete your side quest before visiting your workplace.
  • You will find some new side quests at your workplace, but none of them need to be done immediately as they are all (Long) term. Go ahead and report in (thoroughly), then proceed with your main quest objective until that objective becomes to travel out of the city.
If you did NOT previously obtain a certain couple of items due to disliking the approach of speaking with people, try the local bookstore. Buy yourself those two missing items and read them. We shall now be synchronized.

Moving on with the travel component of the main quest – on your way there, you may want to fight some of the resident creatures to make progress on one of the side quests.
  • At your destination, prior to taking any actions, you may wish to save your game.
  • You are not Little Red Riding Hood. Wandering off course to talk to strangers is not a bad thing, even if you are in a hurry. Besides, you never know when someone might give you something they don’t need anymore, so do this before going to accomplish the goal of your visit. (Achievement at stake.)
Upon returning to the city, go ahead and speak with your customer and your boss. By this point you should have obtained and read 1 new book, and added 1 weapon and 1 armor to your collection.

If you now check for side quests at your workplace, you will see that not only have more popped up but also some are (Short) term! It is time to take care of these.
  • Ignore the (Long) terms for now.
  • By now you should have the necessary supplies to complete one of the side quests which is within the city. If you do not, you should think about the source of these supplies and endeavor to hunt some on your way to and fro so that you will be able to complete it upon your return.
  • Head out of town west first to take care of the two quests in this direction. Remember to watch for treasure like a good adventurer, and stay on the road like a good driver.
  • Follow the road straight past the side path for now; you can take it on your way back. Keep an eye on the south side of this road just as you start to wonder when it will end. A save is recommended.
  • If you have trouble, try thinking about the ‘elements’ of combat and take ‘stock’ of what tools you have. Remember teamwork can use the supportive strength of some to overcome the weakness of others.
  • Along your way here you may encounter a familiar mysterious critter. It is not necessary to fight it at this time, but if you do you may want to ‘charge up’ so that you can use special skills.
  • On the way back towards the city, go ahead and take that side path since it is the locale of the other quest in this direction. Once you have spoken with your customer, it is advised to save your game before heading out to accomplish the quest.
  • Keep yourself in good health, and keep left. If you are having a tough time, you might want to back up and ‘charge up’ so that you can use special skills.
You should then return to the city and report in your results to your boss. (Guide assumes you were also able to complete the aforementioned quest for the customer in the city.) At this point you should have 70 BP, and you should have learned 1 new recipe and opened and spoken with 1 chest.

  • Seeing as how there ARE pressing matters of business, they should be taken care of first and foremost. First, go east and explore with extreme thoroughness the area where two of your quests point. This area can be dangerous – healing items are good.
  • If you run into a nice person, be sure to spend some time speaking with them. They may have something nice and warm to share with you. Oh, but watch out for food allergies.

  • For once, do not worry that the available side quest has a (Medium) timer. Go ahead with the main quest objective.
  • Once you’ve managed to garner a destination for yourself, don’t go running off right away. Instead, visiting all the local shops is recommended, not just to buy yourself all the weapons, books, and quartz that you don’t already own, but also to socialize. After all, you never know when someone will decide to give you something they no longer need.
  • If you have not yet defeated at least one of a small, quick, glowing creature in a thrice westerly direction from *this* city, you must do so now. You may need to ‘charge up’ so that you can use special skills to fight it. It will be on the road, by the curve in the middle of the area – if you cannot find it, leave this area and then return as many times as necessary.
After all this takes place, you should have collected 5 weapons and 2 new quartz, and obtained and read 2 new books.

  • Watch for side paths and continued paths. The game will be pretty clear in letting you know where your final objective is, so make sure you have investigated all other areas first.
  • Be thorough. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure. You might even say that treasure chests aren’t the only thing you can ‘clean’ out. (Achievement at stake.)
By the time you access your main quest location, you should have collected 2 weapons and 1 mysterious item, and opened and spoken with 6 chests.

  • Remember that side quest from before? Well, miraculously, it hasn’t expired yet – you should be able to go and complete it right away within the city.
  • Next, there’s the matter of the ‘mysterious’ item which is anything but clean… if you speak with the shopkeeper at the store that sells devices such as the one that contained this item, you will know where to take this.
  • When you arrive at that destination, go on downstairs and do a good deed.
You can now head on back to the city and report in to your boss once more. Before embarking on your main quest, you may want to read today’s newspaper (with or without breakfast, it’s all up to you this time).

Before leaving the city, you should have 119 BP, and should have obtained and read 1 new book.

Day 7 (Location: Krone Pass Checkpoint)

As you set out on your travels once again…
  • Keep an eye out, treasure-hunter! But… if you were a ninja, you wouldn’t put your treasure in a chest you could actually SEE, right? Check all the corners and crevices, even if you can’t really see what you’re doing.
  • As long as you’re sightseeing, watch for someplace that might end up having a REALLY nice view. (Keep right.)
  • Do a good deed and then continue along your way, where you shall come across a break point.
Along your way to this break point, you should have opened and spoken with 3 chests.

Then, go ahead and start in on those quests!
  • Three quests can be accomplished without leaving the city.
  • For your very practical lost object quest, if you have trouble with it at a higher level, try taking a lower level view of the situation in light of your customer’s statement. Once you have a clue and are looking for something a little different, try looking around in a nearby establishment for something useful.
  • For your high-class but enigmatic quest, if you have trouble, try looking for something strikingly tall in its own right. And if you have trouble after that, try checking out local entertainment venues. And if you have trouble after that, try taking your clue quite literally and looking on high for a waiting area in such a location, and from there using the camera to look all around and find anything that might remotely resemble the rest of the clue.
After reporting in for 14 BP, you should have obtained 1 new quartz. You should now have 3 quests left in one direction from the city and 2 in the other direction. Guide assumes you go towards the 3 first, exiting the southern district.
  • Be sure to thoroughly explore the area where one of your quests has directed you, which you reach first and which should obviously bear further exploration. Watch for alternate paths and security guards.
By the time you leave this area to continue to the further quest, you should have found 2 new weapons, 2 new quartz, learned 1 new recipe, and opened and spoken with 12 chests.

Time flies when you’re having fun! But once it comes to rest for a moment, take some time and walk around everywhere except where you have been told to go…
  • You should come across someone in need outside. Go ahead and help them out. When you’re done helping them, you will know.
  • You should also come across someone in need in a higher place. Go ahead and help THEM out too. When you’re done helping them it will also be fairly obvious.
  • Finally, did you come across anyone telling spooky stories in that second search? Now, just to make sure that everything will be alright, go check out the mentioned place. When you’re finished setting things right, it will be obvious. Though, while you’re here, be sure to explore thoroughly.

  • A whole bunch of (Short) terms have appeared! Take care of the ones in the city first.
  • While you are doing that, perform a search of the rooms in which you find yourself pursuing your quests. The… fruits of your efforts should leave you with an interesting item.
  • Listen very carefully to your customers. They will often let slip information that doesn’t end up in your professional logbook, but which can be quite helpful in directing your mission.
By the time you leave the building, you should have obtained 1 interesting item.

Name: Acerbic Tomato

Before leaving the city…
  • You should be able to accomplish the (Long) term quest that is within city limits.
  • You should also equip an equippable quest item that you just got, and keep it equipped until further (explicit) notice. (Achievement at stake.)
You should now have learned 1 new recipe and upon reporting in to your boss should have a total of 208 BP. You are now ready to leave the city for further questing. It is important to take care of your new side quests first (you can still ignore the other (Long) term for now)...

Be sure to speak with everyone you meet – a truly great member of your profession would certainly be looking for people in need, right?!
  • One good deed requires you to think very carefully about your customer’s request. Remember, to achieve the highest reputation, you will need to honor that request very specifically, even if it requires being a little generous. (Achievement at stake.)

If you think about places that have both of the clued features, well, none really come to mind that you’ve necessarily been to. Therefore, head to any place you have not been in yet to see if it has that feature. (If you have been everywhere, well, just think about running in a reeeeeally big circle around all the cities on the big map, and where you would go next.)
  • AFTER turning this in, you can also turn in the very last side quest you have (involving an equipped item). (And you can replace the equipment. If you want.)
  • If you have NOT yet defeated one of a small, bouncy, glowy creature in a southeasterly location from this city (south, then east – it should be in the middle of the grassy area north of the path), you must do so now. Follow standard procedure.
By the time you have finished all of that, you should have received 1 new quartz.

  • No need to go where you’re not wanted. But since your customer wants to explore, why not take a scenic route to another ‘break point’ and be absolutely sure to speak with everyone there? After all, even those stationed in remote locations may sometimes decide they no longer need something and give it to you.
Before you enter the next city, you should have obtained and read 1 new book.

Upon entering the city it is fine to go ahead and pursue your main quest goal, though a save is recommended.
  • Keep in mind that proper reading of a situation is essential to your reputation. Think about the things at hand very practically and logistically, without reading into them. If you answer incorrectly, you can and should load a save and try again.
You can just let the main story flow for a while. When you first go wandering, you can leave the treasure chests alone for now, since it will be easier to keep track of them later.

Day 22 (Location: Grancel)

You should find 2 new weapons in your possession. (They may be equipped on characters.)

  • If you happen to see a familiar small, glowing creature along your way, you may want to ‘charge up’ before fighting it so that you can use special skills.

Day 23 (Location: Grancel)

On this new day it is best to check where you normally would for any available work. After all, you don’t want to be slacking off.

Fortunately your side quest is where you should be going anyway. Be sure to explore thoroughly.

By the time you return to your boss to report in, you should have learned 1 new recipe and opened and spoken with 5 chests.

The main quest continues… later, in the evening, once you are going to visit a friend, a question comes up. Consider what you know about people who are pulling strings and it should be fairly obvious. If you do not answer correctly, you can and should load a save (remember Autosaves exist if you need them) and try again.

Still later, when you find yourself with an impromptu desire to take in the night air…
  • A save is highly recommended.
  • Keep in mind that any failed attempts… failed. In the event of such a failure, you can and should load a save.
  • While you may need to proceed counterintuitively, you know what that means… it means that someone, somewhere, is in the most counterintuitive location of all, waiting to give you something that they no longer need. In the course of your flight, simply watch for ways to go that are clear, and take them – even if they would be dead ends.
By the time you arrive successfully at your destination, you should have obtained and read 1 new book.

If you have not yet defeated at least one of a small, bouncy, glowing creature in a south-south-easterly location from the city, you must do so now. You may need to ‘charge up’ before fighting it in order to defeat it. It should be at a three-way intersection containing a treasure chest. If you cannot locate it, leave the map and return as many times as necessary until it appears. Upon defeating it, you should get an achievement.

Day 25, Continued (Location: Grancel)

This is a good time to go shopping for weapons, quartz, food, and the morning news. Finally, you MUST SAVE YOUR GAME (necessary for an achievement). After doing so, why not get a cup of coffee? It won’t do to sleep through this part. Do remember to be friendly and chat with the barista. And do remember that so many people have been so generous throughout your play experience, that… now that you have an achievement, it would be a shame if you weren’t to give away something you don’t need anymore, wouldn’t it? After you have made your selection, you MUST LOAD YOUR GAME, and repeat what you have just done while selecting the other option.

Once you have done this, you will have obtained 2 weapons (overall – but only one of them will ‘stick’).

Keeping this required mentioned save file around without replacing or deleting it is highly recommended. If you do not wish to do this – that is, if you do not wish to return to this point, thus necessitating replay of a section of the game, for any reason – then roaming out to hunt down as many of those familiar, sparkling, bouncing critters as possible in a repetitive manner is highly recommended, as is carrying a big stick.

Now, feel free to pursue your main quest. While you’re speaking to various people, try your best to recall what has actually happened, and your prospects will be just fine. If you make any incorrect choices, it will be fairly obvious, and you can and should load your latest autosave and try again.

The main quest will continue…

Now that you have a slightly different quest objective, be absolutely sure to thoroughly inspect your equipment. You may notice that, since the current circumstances are different from any previously faced circumstances, it has become meaningful that your equipped items (only) cannot pull off quantum travel. Keep this in mind.

Once you feel ready, go ahead with the main quest objective you currently have.
With the scene change, you may want to keep a saved game. If you do NOT wish to keep a saved game here, you may wish to consider setting some of your equipment and quartz adrift in the quantum pool, and/or pack those lunches. If so, you must do this right away (before pursuing your new objective).

And once that objective has been achieved, triggering yet another scene change, you might want to take a look at your equipment and quartz, again; and/or take a look at your friendly neighborhood useful items shop.

Then, proceed with the main quest. You may be well advised to ‘conserve’ a little of your ‘charge’.

You have had to deal with previous instances of negotiation, and those were not allowed to involve violence… while this instance clearly *does* involve it, you will want to keep a few things in mind, such as: the tenets of your profession, your desire to attain the highest reputation, and a game mechanic usually applying to civilians. Take great care not to place those not suited to combat in harm’s way. If harm comes to such people, you can and should load a save (an Autosave if needed. Achievement at stake).

After your negotiation session, you should seem to be near your objective. At this point YOU MUST SAVE YOUR GAME.

After saving your game, proceed to your objective. Note that even if you have difficulty, there is no need to worry about perfection in the imminent instance because you MUST play through just this section again in order to achieve 100%.

Events shall unfold, and when they are all unfolded, you will be asked to make a choice. This is a “pick teammates” choice. You MUST choose two people with the same gender as one another!

Once you have done this, you should have gotten an achievement. (Note: achievement name provided later with other similar achievement.) Once you have this achievement, you MUST LOAD YOUR GAME.

Don’t be feeling so confused that it makes you dizzy – you know what’s coming now. If you deem it appropriate to pay a last visit to your local friendly useful items shop, you may still do so. Once you are ready, go on ahead and give it this second try, and succeed completely. (Note: You MUST succeed completely this time, even if you already did so before. Achievement at stake.)

Once you have succeeded completely, you should get an achievement.

Achievement: Preemptive Powerhouse

If you have trouble succeeding completely (especially if playing on Hard), and even after fiddling with possible recent saves and quantum tunneling equipment, you are still unable to accomplish this, it is suggested to load the save that you might have kept from before getting some coffee, and obtain additional… anything that might help… as you come back through the approach to this section.

Once you are past all that and back to the section where you “pick teammates”, you MUST choose two people who are both the opposite gender of the people whom you picked last time!

Once you have done this, you should have gotten an achievement. Also, at this point, you should have 353 BP.

Day 26, Continued (Location: Grancel?)

Before you go running off into the unknown, take care to check your local friendly supply shop for any quartz you do not yet own (this is the time to really make sure you have not skipped any). Also, although it’s rather likely that you have already done this by this point, check out those quartz-powered devices everyone has. EVERYONE should be able to place 6 quartz in their devices – you are now able to rearrange your picked teammates however you like, so make sure you cycle through all of them in order to absolutely confirm this. (Multiple achievements at stake.)

By the time you are actually running (or walking) off into the unknown, you should have obtained 1 new quartz and 2 new weapons. You should also have gotten an achievement (or two).

If you do not have at least 3,000 of each type, get that (and with it, an achievement). If you already had that number, well, you’ve had two achievements for a bit of a while.

Achievements: You Can Trade Those for Money, You Know…, Why Do You Have This Many?!

A save is very highly recommended. If you are ready, you should now move on into your highly anticipated main quest destination. However, you must keep in mind that battles like this MUST have appropriate dramatic presentation and flow, so no matter what else happens, you MUST take turns properly. It would just RUIN it to interrupt the sequence of events. (Achievement at stake.)

By the time you are completely finished with that particular sequence of events, you should have gotten an achievement.

Achievement: S-Craft? What S-Craft?

Day 33(?) (Location: Grancel)

You should now have 365 BP. Now that you are free to wander about again, note that just because you just came out from somewhere doesn’t mean you can’t go back in there. Be sure to check out nice places to talk (with the exception of the location indicated by your characters as the place they will end the day), and speak with all of your friends and comrades. While you’re out, pick up a copy of the latest news.

By the time you are mostly done walking around speaking to people, you should have obtained and read 1 new book and gotten an achievement.

Just wanted to say, cause I saw you replied to my previous comment about finishing 1, I did in fact go right into 2 :)
And then 3 :)
And now I'm playing Zero :P
So suffice to say, in part thanks to this guide, I'm hooked now :)

@Terrius, Niras is correct. You must have had each individual weapon and armor in your inventory at least once. While I hope to make this more clear in the future update after I finish the SC guide, this guide is written in such a way as to make sure you don't miss out if you follow it. The one thing you mustn't sell is: BOOKS. Otherwise, yes, especially if you're playing Nightmare, sell ye olde weapons and armor.
Dracaemelos  [author] Mar 15 @ 4:36pm
T_T oh nooooo! Play the next game, quick! I sobbed uncontrollably for over an hour when I finished this game for the first time. I didn't know there was a second game till the trailer played, after my sobbing, and it wasn't out yet.

Thank you so much for this guide, after years I've finally started on this series, and I can't stress how much this helped me. I'm currently only the final cutscene away from 100% and it's all thanks to you <3
Niras Feb 16 @ 11:29am
@Terrius
Probably no
You can't possess last 2 weapons, the ones you get for collecting every vol. of the novel, on 1st playthrough (without NG+ ) at once. You have to reload in order to get this achievement.
My guess is game requires you to have them in your inventory at least once.
Terrius Feb 13 @ 9:12pm
If you sell the weapons, armors, etc, do you lose the achivement?
Dracaemelos  [author] Dec 31, 2023 @ 8:48pm
Yep, thank you! I've got that slated to make sure on both the latest version and the JP PSP version for when I spruce up the guide after finishing up my SC guide... which I've been wishing to complete by Christmas for the past 5 years... XD But I'm glad that otherwise the guide was helpful and enjoyable ^_^
