How to Play Using the Mouse
By noahdvs
First of all, big, big, big thanks to alex_ul2009 for making this wonderful program. The game was pretty much unbearable for me without it.

I found a program that allow you to use the mouse and keyboard as a controller without doing a lot of work. It may work for other games besides FFXIII: Lightning Returns, but I have not tested it. It works pretty well. He says the camera is a bit laggy, but I have not noticed any lag. However, acceleration seems to be reversed. Moving the mouse quickly moves the camera slowly and moving the mouse slowly moves the camera faster.

Set Up
  1. Download the program from the original post in this thread.
  2. Extract the RAR file to any location using a program like 7-Zip or WinRAR.
  3. Run vJoy.exe in administrator mode, otherwise you may get a message saying the installation failed. If you already have vJoy installed, uninstall that and use this version. alex_ul2009 said that people should use the version he included in the RAR file (I checked, it's virus free).
Configuration
  1. Open the vJoy configuration tool and copy the settings here (taken from Settings.bmp included in the RAR file you downloaded)

  2. Go to the Script folder you extracted from the RAR file and run FFXIII3Mouse.exe. Here you can assign buttons on your keyboard and mouse as buttons on a virtual controller. You can find a list of names for buttons you can use by clicking on the "Button List" button, which will take you to a relevant Autohotkeys documentation webpage.
Unfortunaly, Square Enix messed up the controls for Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns for controllers that don't use XInput. Normally you would have to figure out what button does what by trial and error, but I've already created a configuration that works for me:

Arrow keys are D-pad
WASD are movement
Left mouse button is A (accept)
Right mouse button is B (back/jump)
Middle mouse button is center camera
Mouse button 4 is X (map)
Mouse button 5 is Y (menu)
Mouse wheel down is RB (attack/change schemata)
Mouse wheel up is LB (change schemata)
Q is LT (overclock/sprint)
E is RT (libra/sprint)
Left Shift is something that also allows you to sprint for some reason
0 is Start (pause like in FF13 for KB&M)
1 is Back (skip cutscene/show or hide minimap)

Go to the Script folder. Copy and replace whatever is in Iniread.ini with this, then save the file. If you want to change any settings, you can do it in the program. If a change you made didn't work in game, make sure you have the correct button mapped and make sure you clicked the save button in the program.

Usage
Simply press F4 to start or stop the script that turns your mouse and keyboard into a controller. You will hear a Mario sound whenever you press the button.

Unless you prefer the mouse and keyboard. No offence, but don't be a smartass. I have a controller, but id rather play Windwaker using a mouse.
