4:3 Stretched, high definition

This three stepped guide will help you change your in-game resolution to 1440x1080 which means that the vertical lines will be in high definition. You will have better FPS while in-game and your surroundings will still look awesome!

To follow this guide you need to go into your Graphics Settings Menu, this guide will feature the NVIDIA Control Panel.

1. NVIDIA Control Panel

How to open NVIDIA Control Panel

1. Right click on your desktop and find "NVIDIA Control Panel". Launch the program.

2. Find "Display > Change resolution" in the left section. Click "Change resolution".

How to add a custom resolution

1. Click "Customize" and a menu with resolutions should appear.




2. Click "Create custom resolution".

This window should pop up



3. Change the "Horizontal pixels" to 1440. So it says 1440x1080.

3. Add the resolution to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Click on "Test", your monitor will probably turn black for 3-5 seconds. You will notice that the monitor is stretched out, of course your not going to have your monitor like this. Click "No" when it asks you if you want to keep your settings.



Make sure the box is highlighted, and click "OK".
The resolution will now be visible in the "Custom" section.



Launch Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Go to your video settings in the options menu and select the settings so it looks like this.



Click "Apply" and you're good to go!

Tip: It might take a while to Alt+Tab out of CS:GO so add "-nod3d9ex" to your launch options in Steam>Library>Counter-Strike: Global Offensive>Properties>Set launch options.

(OBSERVE!) In case you have black bars instead of stretched go back to the NVIDIA Control Panel and make sure your settings look like this in the "Adjust desktop size and position" tab.

It lets me use 1440x1080 but when ever I alt tab into csgo, it doesent let me alt tab

Try repeating the process and restarting your PC. You can also do what @z!rcon did and download a third party software. Please let me know how it went.
