Landing jets can be useful though application may be limited. I did make a VTOL jet loosely based off the Harrier. I also have a ship in orbit around the Mun that uses vertical thrusters for landing and return. My efforts to make an efficient way of transferring kerbals to and from the Muns surface.

Not half-bad still. I had to use a Mk 2 spaceplane with half of it composed of fuel to get to a station in LMO.

BTW, what do you think of landing jets? I had a close call once and my recent Mk 2 10-seater shuttle has a top-mounted nacelle for a lnding jet (angled, thanks to your guidance).

I never calculated it. I've been able to reach an orbit as high as the Mun, but that's the limit of it's capability.

How much delta-V sans the lifter?

The adaptor piece leading to the engine cluster is the shuttles on board LFO supply. I also use the monoprop tank as an auxiliary source of propulsion.

The lifter tank is still attached to the orbiter at this point. In addition I had two triple-cluster SRBs on the sides when launching.

So the Cordoba doesn't have a dedicated LFO tank? My first attempt to build a Mk 3 shuttle quickly went over 100 t, at which point a 3.75 m lifter was not enough.
