RESPEC YOUR CHARS

Description
A port of my Grimrock 1 mod. The Script adds a book called 'Tome of Memories' which allows you to reallocate all your skill points/respec a character. This mod itself adds a small room with 4 of the tome. Import your party to respec between dungeons. I hope, if possible, to add this as a plugin type mod so you can respec in any dungeon, but currently, you can respec between dungeons or in any mods that use this tome.

Modders are welcome to use the script; check my post on the LoG forums (adding link here soon)

i m sure m8, i m a guy who finished original game on hard (as always in all games) , if i use original saves on other mods all working; but after respecinng , all big spells are gone for sure (ice shards, poison bolt, fireball etc)

Huh, that's very strange, especially since you don't have to actually know the spells to cast - you just have to know the rune pattern, right? It's kinda weird I haven't heard about this from anybody else. Try reloading old saves, reusing the mod, casting spells again, etc., and let me know. I honestly doubt I'll have time to look into it right now, but if it's for sure an issue I might be able to eventually, or at least add it to my known bugs.

Thanks, Frizzle Fryin'

Hi ,there is aproblem; if i use this mod then my wizard cant cast his known spells anymore (like fireball etc.., but weirdly can cast light, simple fire, darkness, not the rest) , now this is a big problem for me :((

@Tips Fedora - Please read the description and earlier comments - unfortunately due to the modding structure of Grimrock you can only use this to respec and import your party into custom dungeons (mods) and not the main game/campaign. Nothing I can do about that unfortunately, sorry!

I don't get how I import my characters over. I try to start a new game and the "import characters" is unclickable.

I really love your mod, I'm having a lot more fun because of it.

I'm going to go ahead and give you a thumbs up for putting this together despite the limitations of the modding capabilities not letting you add it to the main campaign.

I certainly don't want a respec feature that's prone to abuse, but any time a game requires a substantial time commitment and requires you to enter basically blind about what skills are useful the ability to respec some time on should be mandatory.

Thanks for putting it together and thanks to those who mentioned the way to get a "respec" within the main campaign!

No need to feel sorry Frizzle Fryin'. I understand it's how the game works.
I just completed the main game and will now try out your mod and respec my group for a custom campain. Thanks for your work :)

I'm really sorry guys! Unfortunately the modding format of this game really doesn't allow for me to create a mod which works with the main game. However, the guide neftor posted seems accurate. All you have to do is enable the console, set a key to open it in the .ini (config) file, open it, and type some simple script (in the guide). My mod uses a similar script - but unfortunately my book which calls similar scripts for you cannot be added to the main game due to the way Grimrock modding works. Again, extremely sorry, but it's not something I can do :P
