The Swapper's achievements are quite unusuals and interesting : they give rise to a hidden side-quest, independent from the main story. The only indication about them is the list on Steam interface : I, II, III ... In this way, they constitute the exploration part of the game, which complements the puzzle part.

There are 10 achievements : each one is a message to read on a console located in a hidden room. Those secrets « Message from Home » reveal a bit more about the story.

Finding the hidden rooms by oneself is pretty rewarding, so there's a "basics" section below !
The full guide starts after it. To refer to a precise one, check the index on the right →
Basics [spoilerless hints]
If you look for a little help but not a complete achievement walkthrough, read this section only. Further : spoilers ! (maps, total Orb's number...)
  • A hidden room >>> a console >> a message > an achievement

  • Achievements are unlocked once you read the corresponding message on the console.

  • If you read one, then die or quit the game before a checkpoint, the steam achievement will be unlocked anyway, but not the Message from Home in the memory log of the game.

  • Secret rooms are always hidden behind "solid-like" walls. When it's the case, your swapper's red ray is visible through those fake walls, instead of being stopped.

  • Finding them is more intuitive than it seems. Nothing is set completely randomly. The game leaves clues when a hidden room is near (useless objects, rooms, paths...)

  • They all are allocated chronologically throughout the game (so if you find the II before the I, you'll find the missing one by retracing your steps) --- and quite equally (so as you progress, you can roughly evaluate where a hidden room is supposed to be).

  • Most of them are reachable by swapping. Here are the exceptions :
V, VII and X are located in "non-swap" areas

  • None can be permanently missed. You can cross the map and reach them at anytime.
But if you want to collect them all during the 1st play :
do it before activating the last console (which requires all >124< Orbs)

  • Trust your good old video game's exploration reflexes (really) ^^

... and continue cheerfully to the left

→ Ⅷ
Message from Home # 8

Swap to the ceiling, in that kind of pipe's entrance

Continue swapping up, along the right side

Once you're high enough in the dark, the room is located on the right

→ Ⅸ
Message from Home # 9
Area : Control Access
Description : Space forest and momentum !

Start from the bottom of the room, and walk on the gravity-switch, to fall upward

Once in the column, wait till you're at the climax of your inverted fall

Then swap as far as possible to the top, several times ...

... to reach the fake roof, and finally the room, by swapping to the left

→ Ⅹ
Message from Home # 10
Area : Command
Description : Blue fog, Watchers and friendly elevator

At the end of this blue room. No swap allowed. Just a high jump at the top of the elevator arrival :

You'll have to increase your jump using the elevator's ascend force. Switch it on from downstairs ...

... wait till the elevator is about to arrive, then at the last moment use its dynamic to jump to the upper right corner

... Here. Only a few steps to the right !

Done !
Well, cosmonaut, hope this guide has been helpful ! (...and my english correct)

Sounds, aesthetics, concept and gameplay make The Swapper a great and particular atmospheric puzzle game. Did you know that visuals and textures have been handmade using clay and everyday objects, before being digitized ?

The game freezes when interacting with any of the consoles so I can't read the messages but the achievement is awarded

Thank you for this awesome guide, it was wonderful to have the hints section to be able to try to partially find some of the secret areas without it feeling like a needle in a haystack search all over the game map!
