The game has updated recently, and your mod doesn't work well with it. She ship's skin is gone, and there's no "boost" effect behind the ship anymore. Not to mention the huge bug, which is when you pick up a star, all the white blocks allign in the center, visually, but their actual placement is hidden, apart from the stripes under them.
Pink blocks are 1000 points.
Blue blocks are 2000 points.
Green blocks are 3000 points.
Yellow blocks are 4000 points.
Red blocks are 5000 points
Now that I know how you're supposed to maximize your score, though, I'm not having as much fun. Pellets are usually placed after a slow section. If I don't know the pellet is coming, it's very easy to lose a large cluster of blocks, which just takes me right out of the song. I didn't like wakeboard for the same reason – having to set up my grid before an intense section breaks the flow of the song for me.
But this was still my favorite mode, and there's nothing else like it. Could you please make some kind of a Mono Midway casual mode, where grays are punishing, and power blocks give a flat amount of points, like, 3000 or 5000? I can't tell you how much I'd appreciate it.
Remember, the points you get from picking up the orb are based off how full your grid is. Pick up the orb with an empty grid, those blocks aren't worth very many points. Pick it up with a full grid, you make lots and lots of points.
So, how to make sure you hit the orb with a heavy (or full) Grid?
Take advantage of the greys.
Picking up a grey resets the grid clear timer, so you don't empty your grid prematurely.
It also removes a block, which allows you to pick up another block, thus keeping your grid going. It also helps prevent you from overfilling your columns, which will also clear your grid.
So yeah. Grey blocks are your friends in midway.
