(10 tips below) Heyy, what's up guys! So I finally decided to do a new video on fighting games and tell fighting game noobs how to get better at fighting game, and hopefully something that leads to being a better fighting game player and beat better players than you. I'll be covering 10 steps/tips (whatever you want to call them) and they're not necessarily in order, but I tried to put them in the best order you should probably pay attention to them chronologically.

10 TIPS ON HOW 2 IMPROVE @ FIGHTING GAMES:

1. Chunking & Repetition: Fighting Games like any other game requires practice of combos repeatedly. When I played Blazblue, half the time I was in training mode learning more and more advanced stuff. If you want to get good at certain games, you HAVE to learn combos. Try to learn at least 1-2 solid ones before you jump online.

2. Situational Practice: If you keep getting hit by spammed fireballs from Ryu in Super Street Fighter IV, then that simply means you need to figure out how to escape them. That's just an example of course, but no matter what "situation" you keep running into, find a way to get out of it in training mode or just by thinking about it.

3. Add GOOD People: One of the most important ways to get better is honestly fighting other players who are better than you and others who are at the same level, also trying to get better. The people who you trade wins and losses with I call fighting game rivals & you WILL get better if you stick with them.

4. Remember you will SUCK: The initial part of the game is going to suck...a lot :( it's an unfortunate part of playing, but just like constantly dying online in an FPS or losing to better players at FIFA online or any other competitive game, it requires a bit of time and practice...but more importantly experience to get good. Losing helps tells you what not to do when winning doesn't necessarily do the same.

5. Meta-game: Learning the other opponents game is another huge aspect of fighting games and learning the limits of your own character is also a huge part too. If you have a firm grasp of what most people who play someone do, then it allows you to anticipate and have a good idea of what to look for. Playing other characters can even help with that too!

6. Write ♥♥♥♥ down: Not everyone has to do this (or may even want to), but it's very good to write down what you learn for later. If you take a break or just sincerely forget something, you can always refer to it later to see what you've learned or want to expand on.

7. TEST on everyone: Simply put you need to test your combos on everyone because they won't always work. You have to be prepared to amend combos sometimes so your game still holds up under pressure.

8. Comprehension: It can be hard to understand exactly WHY you're doing one thing as opposed to the other, but it's something you'll soon come to learn later. Consult your fighting game buddies and check out forums for help on that.

9. Use the internet..but be careful: The internet is a wonderful tool but can get deluded with misinformation...or outdated info altogether. Watch for what's good and keep focused on that. Also, forums are HUGE and trying to be a part of an active one that helps people out is really good.

10. When Salt Strikes: Losing is a part of the game and getting salty hurts, but it can make you stronger. At this point you can take a break, try to beat up other people, or go to training mode. Either way, you can do it!

I've always loved fighting games and started with Mortal Kombat for nintendo, but I've moved on to MK Trilogy for N64, then games like Marvel vs Capcom, Soul Calibur, Blazblue Continuum Shift: Extend, Skullgirls, & a little Mortal Kombat 9. I'm always still learning things myself, but the issue of fighting game terminology and tips and tricks has always been something people ask on the net so like me, hopefully you learned something :)

Great video dude! My favorite joke of the video was
"I made a combo that takes away half health, like the shwag, but they just won't let me do it"
I learned not to jump into online matches after briefly practicing a set-up the hard way. Needless to say I got bodied.

Great video. I mostly play my fighting games on PS3, mainly SSF4, 3rd Strike, all 3 MVCs, Tekken, and Skullgirls. Plan on getting SG, KoF, and maybe Injustice on steam. Names the same on both accounts if anyone wants to add me. But yeah, great tips especially the one about getting salty. Been there, man...
