HOW-TO: Remove the BLUE FOG
By luvstospewge
A quick walkthrough on how to remove the ambient blue fog. This change makes the game's atmosphere more akin to Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

HOWTO: Remove the blue fog.
Firstly you need to ensure you have 'Saved and Exit' from Amnesia.

You'll then need to navigate to the location where your save games are stored. Usually this is
My Documents/Amnesia/PIG/<profilename>
where profilename is the name you gave your profile in game.

Saved games are given normally named "Autosave_<level>_<date>_<time>.sav"
Open your latest save with with a text editor like notepad, and find the first instance of the following value:

<class type="cLuxSavedMap" name="mMap">

Within this section you'll need to find this value:

name="mbFogActive" val="true"

and change this to:

name="mbFogActive" val="false"

This should disable the fog when you reload the game. Im not 100 percent sure what affect this will have later on in the game. I'm yet to complete the game.

The save file holds a heap of stuff, so the standard rule of "Back-up before changing anything" should apply here.

Hope this helps some people!

Candle usability - 0.1%
For those who never saw candle light in dark room. :steamfacepalm:

Setting SSIO to medium actually helped with the fog!

Just FYI- someone posted a more recent guide where it explains you basically just need to set SSAO quality to medium for the fog to be gone. No file editing required. Somehow putting it on high messes up the colour correction. Bloody weird.

This works perfectly and makes the game SOOO much better, but you should really update the guide to explicitly state that you need to do this every single time you start a new level. Each time a new level begins just save and quit to the game's menu, tab out and turn fog to false again and then load your most recent save. Don't continue, just manually select the most recent one.

If only I had known this while I was playing this game... but I don't give a shit anymore.

Thanks! Much creepier without the fog. Looks more realistic and it's a lot harder to see in the dark which adds to the suspense.

It works, but every time I load up a new area, I have to exit the game & do it all over again! Just to much trouble!
