HOW-TO: Remove the BLUE FOG
By luvstospooge
A quick walkthrough on how to remove the ambient blue fog. This change makes the game's atmosphere more akin to Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

HOWTO: Remove the blue fog.
Firstly you need to ensure you have 'Saved and Exit' from Amnesia.

You'll then need to navigate to the location where your save games are stored. Usually this is
My Documents/Amnesia/PIG/<profilename>
where profilename is the name you gave your profile in game.

Saved games are given normally named "Autosave_<level>_<date>_<time>.sav"
Open your latest save with with a text editor like notepad, and find the first instance of the following value:

<class type="cLuxSavedMap" name="mMap">

Within this section you'll need to find this value:

name="mbFogActive" val="true"

and change this to:

name="mbFogActive" val="false"

This should disable the fog when you reload the game. Im not 100 percent sure what affect this will have later on in the game. I'm yet to complete the game.

The save file holds a heap of stuff, so the standard rule of "Back-up before changing anything" should apply here.

Hope this helps some people!

luv

It works, but every time I load up a new area, I have to exit the game & do it all over again! Just to much trouble!

I changed the value in th save file as explained and could not tell a huge difference so I went to <Steam/SteamApps/common/Machine for Pigs/particles and changed the value in the ps_area_fog.ps file. This seem to give a clearer screen in game (nothing like the shots you have here) but the screenshots I get still have that huge blue tint. I know they made this into the game but man I cannot fathom a good reason for it. It is actually quite annoying.

The blue fog is really ruining a the game for me. It's odd how in the main menu everything looks fine, but once I'm in game, everything is so blue and and I can easily see in the dark.

Picchio, yes. It helps to see in the dark. In TDD there was a fog, but it turned on only when there's no light source nearby. Same thing was with Penumbra, but when you don't move for a little while. Constant fog is annoying. I don't know if there's a "sillouhette" of the pigs, maybe not and that's one more reason for fog - to see your enemies. But it look ridiculus and kind of less scary with it. I'm playing without fog and I CAN'T SEE PIG, I'M SCARED!

It's supposed to be there, you know.
