Music Changer

Description
This minimalist mod adds a simple button at the top right corner of the screen that allows you to skip the current music playing as many times as you like.

The next song is random, based initially on your civ's ethnicity and peace / war status.
If you skip all the appropriate songs, the game may play songs from different ethnicities. Usually songs will not repeat.

This was my first and only mod. Thanks to WHoward at CivFanatics for his amazing tutorials.

=-=-=-=-=-= FAQ =-=-=-=-=-=
Q: Is this mod compatible with anything?
A: Some other mods that change the interface will make the music button look displaced, that is, it won't fit well with the interface. It will still be functional. (READ LAST QUESTION)

Q: Does this require any expansion / DLC?
A: Absolutely not!

Q: Can I use this in multiplayer?
A: Yes, but since the multiplayer interface is different from the single-player game, the button will look "out of position", while remaining functional.

Q: Can you create a mod that will allow us to choose a specific song or maybe display the current song's name?
A: I'm a noob at computer languages. Believe me, I've tried to do both, spent days researching functions and variables in forums, but it will take someone with greater skill than mine to accomplish this.

Q: I'm using this mod with (any mod that changes interface) or in multiplayer and it looks bad. What can I do?
A: There is indeed a quick solution for your problem. All you need to do is edit a number in a XML file.
Please go to this folder: "C:\Users\(YOURNAME)\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Music Changer (v 3)\UI"
Inside this folder there are two files. Open "MusicButton.xml"
The whole button is the first "container". It is "anchored" relative to R, T (right, top) values, which means the top right corner of the screen is the reference point. The "offset" is the position relative to the anchor that is assumes in game! The offset is set in 2 integers, X (horizontal) and Y (vertical), in pixel units. Currently, it is 300 pixels to the left and 28 pixels down, as you can see in the file. If you think the button is too far right and should be an extra 100 pixels to the left, just increase the first value of the offset by 100.
Feel free to change the button however you like!

Q: Can you make a mod that changes the main menu music?
A: I have created a guide for this. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=782893037

I ran into a curious problem; it says dependencies are missing, but I'm not missing anything. So I checked the files in the file location, and it says I have Music Changer version 2, not version 3. All I did was hit the subscribe button and it appears to have downloaded an older version of the mod...? I've already validated and re-installed several times, no changes.

It works!, all I had to do was verify the integrity of game files for steam to recognize and download the mod.
On steam, right-click on the game/properties/installed files and click on "verify integrity of game files"

Thanks, Terra Novum was driving me insane.

It doesn't install mod files. I always check the new folder whenever download new mod. But this doesn't offer anything.

@ Bullwinkle sorry to hear that! This mod uses an existing debug function of the game, which is "music skip". Somehow Firaxis didn't think of including a button for this function for the players, but I did. However, the inner workings of this music skipping function are out of my reach. :steamsad:

Playing BNW as Zulu, this mod does not get me away from primitive out-of-tune african instruments. I hit the change music button many times, even rapid fire, and it still feels like I'm trapped at a Yoko Ono concert. (If you're too young to know Yoko Ono, you owe it to yourself to watch any ten seconds of her on YT. She was the gf of one of The Beatles back in the day, and hers is the worst music of all time for planet Earth.)
