In an undocumented event, Engineer was once abducted by Gray Mann, the vicious brother of Blutarch and Redmond Mann, and was placed in his factory at Gray Gravel Inc. as a research subject.

Mid-way during the research, Engineer fell out of the anaesthesias' effect and realized what was happening. He staged a breakout from Gray Gravel Inc. at once and escaped. But, it was not a perfect escape, as Gray and his robots had managed to attach a pre-designed Gray processor to his right foot, along with a lot of circuitry. This was an irreversible process and the damage was done. It has been widely speculated that, Gray might be able to control Engineer (or some part of him) in the near future.

Saxton Hale, according to rumors, has been working on a fix for this, and believes that he might be able to re-route the workings of the Gray processor to Mann Co.'s benefit.
