This guide explain to you how to fix launch errors 1004 and 2000.

Important Information: This guide does not work on Windows 10. This guide was written on Windows 7 in 2013.

English Guide

1) Open Registry Editor

First, you need to open Registry Editor with "Execute" command.

Press and type regedit in "Execute" window.
You can also find Registry Editor here : C:\Windows\regedit.exe



Note : The screenshots are in French but you should understand the explanations.

2) Find "Spore" in Registry

Now, navigate through Registry to this adress :

Windows 64 bits : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432node\Electronic Arts\SPORE
Windows 32 bits : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\SPORE

3) Check and modify string value

Add or modify the following string value if they are not there :

String	Value
AppDir	SPORE
DataDir	C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Spore\Data
InstallLoc	C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Spore\
PlayerDir	My Spore Creations

Note : Change the values ​​of "DataDir" and "InstallLoc" according to the address where your Steam is installed.

If you are missing values ​​in the registry such as "DataDir", you must create as shown below.

To add these values ​​in the registry, do a right-click in the right area. Select "New" and click "String Value."



Then just rename the string you just created and subsequently modify its value as shown in the table above.


If you want to know how to find where your Spore is installed, follow these steps. Otherwise, skip to step number 4.

• First, right-click on the game Spore in your library and click on "Properties".
  
  
  
• Then click on "Local File" and "Browse Local Files".
  
  
  
• A window pops up and then you can see where Spore is installed on your hard drive.
  

4) Add 2 value in Registry

Then, you need to add 2 32bit DWORD value :

Name	Value
ReIndexYesOrNo	0
InstallCompleted	1

To add these values ​​in the registry, do a right-click in the right area. Select "New" and click on "32-bit DWORD value".

Then just rename the string you just created and subsequently modify its value as shown in the table above.

Now you can play Spore and enjoy ! :D

1) Ouvrir l'éditeur de Registre

Tout d'abord, vous devez ouvrir l'éditeur de Registre avec la fonction "Exécuter".

Appuyez sur et écrivez regedit dans la fenêtre "Exécuter".
Vous pouvez aussi trouver l'éditeur de Registre à l'adresse suivante : C:\Windows\regedit.exe

2) Trouver "Spore" dans le Registre

Maintenant, naviguez dans le registre jusqu'à l'adresse suivante :

Windows 64 bits : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432node\Electronic Arts\SPORE
Windows 32 bits : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\SPORE

3) Vérifier et modifier les valeurs du Registre

Ajoutez or modifiez les valeurs suivante dans le Registre si elle sont manquantes :

InstallLoc	C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Spore\
PlayerDir	Mes Créations

Note : Changez les valeurs de "DataDir" et "InstallLoc" selon l'endroit où vous avez installer Steam.

S'il vous manque des valeurs dans le registre comme par exemple la valeur "DataDir", vous devez les créer comme indiqué ci-dessous.

Pour ajouter ces valeurs dans le registre, faites un clique-droit dans la zone de droite. Sélectionnez "Nouveau" et cliquez sur "Valeur chaîne".



Il suffit ensuite de renommer la chaîne que vous venez de créer et de modifier par la suite sa valeur comme indiqué dans le tableau du dessus.


Si vous voulez savoir comment trouver où est installé votre jeu Spore, suivez ces étapes. Sinon, allez directement à l'étape numéro 4.

• D'abord, faites un clique-droit sur le jeu Spore dans votre Bibliothèque et cliquez sur "Propriétés".
  
  
  
• Puis, cliquez sur "Fichier Locaux" et "Parcourir les fichiers locaux".
  
  
  
• Une fenetre apparait et vous permet alors de voir où est installé Spore sur votre disque dur.
  

4) Ajout de 2 valeurs dans le Registre

Ensuite, vous devez ajouter 2 valeurs 32bit DWORD :

Nom	Valeur
ReIndexYesOrNo	0
InstallCompleted	1

Pour ajouter ces valeurs dans le registre, faites un clique-droit dans la zone de droite. Sélectionnez "Nouveau" et cliquez sur "Valeur DWORD 32 bits".

Il suffit ensuite de renommer la chaîne que vous venez de créer et de modifier par la suite sa valeur comme indiqué dans le tableau du dessus.

Vous pouvez désormais jouer à Spore et en profiter pleinement ! :D

Thanks ! Works fine : if you don't have the "Electronic Arts" key in register, just create it, then the "Spore" Key, then all the REG_SZ & DWORD values :)

Guide update : This fix doesn't work on Windows 10. It work on Windows 8.1 and below, please check your version before say this fix doesn't work. Thank you

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Spore
Fucked up registery strings from Steam spore probably didn't get removed when you uninstalled it. Just edit them like you do in this.

I'm getting these errors but I don't even have steam spore installed. In fact, I removed local content earlier today because I returned the game. I already had a disc copy installed and I though I would just use that but now I'm getting the errors...
