My solution (directions given as if facing from the ledge with the doors to the ledge with the cube): I used the bounce gel and some portals to coat the left-hand wall with bounce gel. I then set up a fling tight up against the left-hand wall and strafed slightly to hit the blue paint on the left-hand wall, sending me bouncing over the pit.
From there I picked up the cube, faith plated over to the starting area, and set up the laser cube more or less as you suggest except I replaced the portal on the laser floor once the cube was in the laser so it stayed where I wanted it.
And you're welcome. This was a pretty inventive chamber and I liked it.
Also, how did you solve it? If you did it that way, that's not supposed to be possible. Unless your solution is much more clever and harder to figure out, I'd like to fix it. Thanks by the way!
I'd prefer this map a lot if the consequence for falling into the pit were something other than death. Death gets tedious when you're trying to experiment with solutions.
