Finally, I've been waiting for a long time to announce this new campaign that I wanted to do for a long time. I've been a fan of the Men of War series for a long time, and I'e seen that many battles, factions and campaigns have been forgotten. Not only in this game but generally in the media and in history. But sacrifices are never forgotten and especially the ones made by the mighty colonial forces of WW2. From the Indians and the Punjabis of the British Empire to the Senegalese, Algerian, Tunisian, Tonkin troops of the French Empire.

But today i have the priviledge to honour the Moroccan troops that have fought previously in WW1 and WW2 and after in the Indochina War. They are famous for there fierce behaviour in combat, and an all natural skills in fighting hand to hand and shooting and mountain climbing that they got most of them from their berber heritage.

What is interesting is there are two types of Moroccan units used in the french campaign. First we've got the Tirailleurs, dressed in a conventional/US Army style uniforms and were equipped with American weapons. They are well trained battle hardened and composed of Moroccans and Pied-Noirs( Half French-Half Moroccan). Most of the officers and squad leaders were French. These tirailleurs were organised in regiments. There were 10 regiments in total.
On the other hand there were The Goumiers. Now these guys, the millitary historians still don't know wether they were mercenaries or conventional soldiers because of the way they looked and dressed and how they fought. They wore a kind of Moroccan Djellabas and carried Berber knives. Most of them were drafted by force from the tribes in the Atlas mountains by french authorities and were sent to fight in Europe. They were organised in Goums( Companies ) and in tabors ( Battalions ). Some Tabors have also been attached to American divisions.
These Goumiers are the ones that have commited a terrible war crime in Italy, "La Marochinate" by raping and and stealing in the villages near Cassino. A lot of them have been court martialed and punished. But these allegations against these men are somewhat controversial because some people say that were used as scape goats to cover all the atrocities made by the Allies during the Campaign in Italy. So this battle is set during the Italian campaign in the Abruzzes near Monte Cassino. This is a assault on german forces dug in the massif of the Pantano in one of the Winter lines in Italy. Many attempts have been made by the Americans of the 168th regiment of the 34th division but in vain. The French expeditionnary Corps was sent then to relieve the Yankees and sent their 2nd Moroccan Disvision to the area. In this battle it is the 5th regiment of the Moroccan Tirrailleurs and the 11th Tabors who lead the attack supported by the 64th A.A (Artillery of Africa).
There are two peaks to take before the final attack on the Pantano.

Move slowly and surely in the mountains and be wary of those machine gun nests.


This a preview battle so that I can collect information on what's needed to improve the upcoming battles that i'll be putting in one single mod. Play it in the editor.
I'd like to explore the tunisian Campaign, other battles in Italy, the Allied landings in Provence and finally the push to Germany where moroccans were also present and played key roles. If someone is interested in collaboration i would be very glad !
