Valyrian Reins

This mod adds a single new item, Valyrian Reins.

These can be equipped in a fliers costume slot and will have various effects depending on the creature, as listed below;

Wyverns: Double its ridden rotation rate (turning speed) give it a 10% speed increase when ridden, and decrease its ridden stamina drain by 50%. Equipping the reins also decreases the height at which a Wyvern on follow will fly at. Meaning that a following Wyvern can now actually be easily mounted, and when removing follow is now much more likely to land instead of hovering in the air annoyingly out of reach. Although it should be noted that this is a little buggy. Ensure that you you are not riding the Wyvern when equipping the reins for this change to take effect, and unfortunately it doesn't always have the desired effect.

Argents: Speed boost and enhanced Stamina

Pteras: Enhanced Stamina, reduced cooldown on barrel roll attack

Quetz: 1.5x speed, enhanced Stamina

Griffins: Enhanced Stamina, the ability to carry larger creaures. Doubled Dive Velocity with added increase based on percentage of the Reins Durability With the Reins equipped they will be able to carry the same sized creatures as the Argent used to be able to carry before its TLC (so up to Saber/Direwolf sort of size)

Pelagornis: Enhanced Stamina

Tapejara: Enhanced Stamina, rider has ability to use weaponry as well as passengers

Rock Drake: Gains doubled bite attack speed.

Managarmr: Tripled Step Heights, gains 25% extra Stamina, Stamina usage for jumps reduced to 80 - durability of Reins, Stamina usage for thrusts reduced to 72 - durability of Reins, allows use of Ice Breath attack whilst swimming

Snow Owl: Increase to Stamina, Doubled Dive velocity with added increase based on percentage of the Reins Durability

Gas Bags: Increased Stamina, Increased Gas/Oxygen Ratio by 50% plus percentage of Reins Durability, Reduced Air Control Stamina usage by 50% plus percentage of Reins Durability


The Reins have a small armour stat (base of 10 armour for a crafted Primitive set) this armour boost will only be received by those creatures who are not normally equipped with saddles, ie. Wyverns and Griffins.

The reins also have a durability stat, minimum of 1 and a maximum of 10. Increasing the durability of a set of reins will also further increase the ridden rotation rate and ridden speed modifier for Wyverns, further increase the flying speed of Argents and Quetz's, and further increase the possible increased grab weight of creatures that Griffins may carry.

Better quality Valyrian Reins and better quality blueprints can now be found in the death inventories of wild Wyverns. If you wish to prevent this on your server, please use the following lines in your GameUserSettings.Ini;

The Reins are crafted in the players inventory at a cost of 30 Sarco Skin, 20 Metal Ingots, 30 Organic Polymer and 5 Oil. The Engram is learnable at Level 50 for 20 Points



The Reins will also work with modded flyers, including Classic Flyers, provided that the mod author has used the original vanilla dinos Dino Tag for his creatures.
