Block countries with windows firewall

Tired of players from certain countries in your games, talking in a language you cannot read. Block them with windows firewall from accessing your server or games.

Download[bitbucket.org]

2. Extract PowerShell Script

Extract "country-ip-blocklist.zip" to a new folder, for example c:\country-ip-blocklist

3. Create or update the *.zone.txt files

Go to http://www.ipdeny.com/ipblocks/ and click the “aggregated zone file” for each country you wish to block, copy the IP list and save it to a text file with this format: China -> china.zone.txt and copy the text file to the "country-ip-blocklist" folder we created earlier.

4. Run PowerShell as administrator

Search your computer for "powershell.exe", rightclick it and run as administrator

5. Navigate PowerShell to country-ip-blocklist folder

Type in PowerShell window (without the quotes) "cd c:\country-ip-blocklist"

6. Change PowerShell scripts policy to make the firewall rules

Type without quotes “PowerShell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass”
This will set the scripts Policy of PowerShell so that it can make the Windows Firewall Rules.

7. Add the contents of *.zone.txt files to windows firewall

Type in PowerShell window without the quotes ".\Import-Firewall-Blocklist.ps1 -inputfile china.zone.txt"
And repeat for every zone you want to block, you can press the up arrow on your keyboard to bring up the last entered line in PowerShell and edit the command like that for ease of use.

8. Change PowerShell scripts policy back to default

Type without quotes “PowerShell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Restricted”

9. Remove *.zone.txt contents from windows firewall

If you want to enable access again for a country, type in the PowerShell window without the quotes ".\Import-Firewall-Blocklist.ps1 -inputfile china.zone.txt -deleteonly"
Repeat for all the zones you want to unblock.
