Fire Emblem: Kingdom of Verdane

This mod adds the Kingdom of Verdane from Fire Emblem 4 to the base game of Civilization V.
Verdane's forces play a major role in the first two chapters of Sigurd's story in Fe 4, and I found that I could represent their lore in the gameplay department well enough to make a mod out of it. As the game never gives us a full body picture of King Batou himself, I had to photoshop the portrait we DO get onto another picture and blend it out (fans of the series might recognize which other character's robes I have used :)

UA: Barbarian Kingdom of Jugdral

Pay only 40% maintenance cost for units, able to use enemy roads as their own and can enter rival territory without open borders.

UU: Verdanian Axeman

Cheaper to produce and stronger than the Swordsman, which it replaces. Unlike the Swordsman, it does not require Iron resources to build and heals twice as fast.

UB: Spirit's Forest

The Spirit's Forest is a Classical-era building which increases the city's output of Happiness, yields 5 faith and costs no maintenance for the city. It replaces the Temple.
Can only be built in a Holy City.

Strategy:

In my eyes this civ is pretty balanced in terms of how it plays. The UA scales with the UU, and the Spirit's Forest is a nice building to bulk up your faith and happiness with should you be lacking.
With its 16 strength and bonuses, you could very well build up a strong army of Verdanian Axemen and go on a conquering spree, it's what I designed the civ for.
It has to be said that this civ is a very strong one though, so beware of Batou being in your games!

As the lore depicts Sandima as having brainwashed the King, he is very agressive as an AI in terms of war, as he is convinced that one day your civ will attack his. Deal with him soon or you might find him swarming your borders later on.
