Don't listen to the recent negative reviews complaining about microtransactions. A lot of them are kneejerk reactions to the recent announcement that emotes and paid microtransactions are going to be added to the game. However, these emotes aren't "fortnite dances" like some of these reviews are implying. Here are the facts:

1. No, they are not adding the griddy or orange justice or whatever dumb fortnite dances into the game. These emotes are just simple stuff like thumbs up or slow clapping or high ready and what not. All of them are appropriate to the setting and something you would expect soldiers to actually do.
2. Full body animations (emotes) can only be performed during pre game staging time and/or when in the main base aka away from any actual fighting.
3. Gestures are separate from emotes and can be performed anywhere on the map at any time, but are just simple hand signals and stuff that again you would see soldiers do in real life.
4. Many of these emotes are being added for free, but some will need to be purchased via microtransactions. The developers have stated that they will not paywall any actual content such as factions or kits behind any microtransactions.

The real concern here is that the introduction of microtransactions could lead to a slippery slopes of the game being filled with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ microtransactions in the future just like EA does in their games. However, this game was developed by an indie studio that has been developing the game for 8 years without adding any microtransactions, and they're probably doing this now to try to gain some extra income for a game in a niche genre and try to fund it more (a former project reality dev agrees as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/joinsquad/comments/10j39gh/former_project_reality_leader_my_take_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=2&utm_content=share_button)

In my opinion, the future of the game COULD lead to a microtransaction filled mess of a game later on, but there's also a pretty high chance that the game could go on with just the simple emote microtransactions and continue to stay as good as it is.

There's also accusations of tencent taking over the company or whatever. They have a minority stake so they're nowhere near being able to completely dictate what gets added to Squad, but they definitely do have a voice within the board.

I'll let you decide whether you want to spend money on a game that COULD turn out to be bad like that. But as of right now, the game is pretty great. For now, the upcoming microtransactions won't affect your ability to play the game whatsoever and will only be for emotes that are purely cosmetic.

The game itself is still very teamwork oriented and is basically a very hardcore, semirealistic version of battlefield. Squads need to stick together and stay coordinated, oftentimes performing support roles (supply runs, mortars, etc.) in order to win. You'll of course get some bad experiences, but once you find the right servers you'll have a mostly good time if you have a mic and are willing to cooperate.

Enemies somehow have better weapons and reaction time and accuracy than a full swat team

11/10

EDIT: I don't want anyone taking this seriously because it's a joke. Yes, oftentimes it get's annoying because some of the harder enemies for some reason are better than your troopers. But they're really easy to beat if you use the right tactics.
