"Should I play the other Yakuza games before this one?"
Yes. But if you don't have time then 1, 7, and Gaiden is fine I guess but you'll definitely be missing out on a lot.

It's the same old Yakuza/Like a Dragon that you know (well, after the changes brought on by 7.) There's so much to do that I had to leave a good chunk of the side content behind otherwise I would have never finished the main story. If you're looking at this game from a pure GAMEPLAY perspective then it just might be the best in the series, provided you like the new turn-based style. However, the story is where things kinda fell apart for me.

Kiryu is much more interesting than Ichiban in this game which is a shame because I felt like this was a chance to really prove that the two are on the same level. Though even Kiryu's side stories (one of the best offerings in this game) are a bit muddied. Something happens during the main story that makes the side stories make way less sense. It's really hard to explain but if you played it then you know what I mean.

Also, on the final boss I get that Kiryu fighting Ebina made sense because he's atoning for the past mistakes of the yakuza that have been biting him in the rear for forever and he's fighting what's technically the new leader of the Tojo clan (kinda) but it feels REALLY weird to have Ichiban barely interact with him after finding out he's his potential half brother.

So, no, I don't think this is a near perfect 9/10 that reviewers think it is but it's still very good.

Better than the other reviews made me think it would be. Nice story with a good message. The case was fun to piece together though there was this part at the end where I was hunting for a final word that was my last piece of evidence and looking for it in the sea of text kinda made my eyes hurt.

This REALLY made me want a game where you solve multiple cases this way, the game is very much on the short side (2 hours) but if you're certain you'll like it then buy it.

A virtual walk through painter James Ensor's artwork. A short point and click puzzle game that can honestly be a bit creepy if you're not down with the style but I thought it was creative and neat. Can't go wrong with $Free.99

2nd best WWE 2K game to date, the game is GREAT but I'm leaving a negative review because these PC ports are just sad.

I'm worried we'll have another 2K20 situation on our hands where bugs get progressively worse each installment until the game is completely broken. PLEASE DO BETTER WITH THE PC PORTS. It takes forever to boot the game up and network features only work if you're lucky. I can't even play the MyFaction mode 2K insists on everyone playing.

Criticisms not exclusive to the PC port
-An overhaul to Universe mode in the next installment would be nice. Or just bring back Create a Story so we can pretend.
-Showcase mode is boring and shallow compared to what it was 10 years ago. Generic music, no commentary, real footage instead of animated cutscenes, specific and sometimes frustrating objectives.
-You still can't edit tag team trio entrances for some reason?

5 hours in, I won my first run, and I've barely scratched the surface. I know that the indie scene is a bit flooded with rougelike deckbuilders but this is one worth checking out. It uses the rules of poker as a base then proceeds to add 50 more mechanics and other kinds of cards into the mix like a kid making his first D&D homebrew but it somehow works. Make no mistake, this still requires quite a but of luck like real gambling but you can very much shift the odds in your favor. Also I had no idea how poker works before playing and I came out of this just fine so if you're worried about that then don't be.

I don't think I can really judge Paper Lily fairly until all of the parts are out but what I did play was good. This has potential to be up there with some RPG Maker greats if it had a more unique style. Anyways, what I experienced in the first chapter was very good and I am eager to see more!

Such good presentation and atmosphere. This is definitely one of those chill platformers you sit back and relax with. Only complaint is that it's just an hour long, even if you take your time. If you like games like GRIS or Journey and you have an hour to spare then this is a no-brainer.

"We have Katana Zero at home."

Seriously speaking though, this is a pretty decent side-scrolling beat-em-up game. It's charming, it's smooth, it's got a nice little story. The game is also, you know, pretty fun although there is a point where it starts throwing way more enemies at you and gets a bit frustrating (or maybe I'm just a lame n00b.) Though I will say the difficulty isn't helped if you don't play on a controller like the game recommends because for some GODS FORSAKEN reason the mouse isn't locked to the screen you're playing on. I died plenty of times because I accidentally clicked on something on my second monitor and got distracted. Nevertheless, it's still a pretty decent game, especially for $10.

There are very few pieces of media that I really think speak to me and this is one of those.
If you consider yourself an optimistic nihilist or you like media that makes you think about existence and reality then you owe it to yourself to play this.

I liked when Leon roundhouse kicked those Spanish people.
