Ingredients:
Cake:
- 1 ¾ cups flour
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- ¾ cup cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Frosting:
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
Cake:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch pans.
2. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add eggs, milk, oil, vanilla. Beat until smooth.
4. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
5. Pour into pans. Bake 30-35 minutes. Cool.
Frosting:
1. Beat butter until creamy.
2. Gradually add powdered sugar, cocoa, cream, vanilla, and salt. Beat until fluffy.
Assemble:
1. Frost between layers, then top and sides.
2. Decorate.
