So I got to play this game once a long time ago. I went back to the game some time later and it kept crashing on start up. I made a thread about this and no one ever responded, I seen someone else later made another thread about it crashing on start up, with no help for either of us, despite the dev commenting on other posts after both of our threads were made. So I am posting a negative review. One because thats ridiculous that this small of a game cant get a response from the dev for people having issues. And two because I found a fix.

If you go to your save file located at C:/Users/USERNAME/AppData/Roaming/great-permutator You will find a file called settings, if you open this with notepad, you will see all the settings for the game in there, you need to change the top option display_mode to zero. so it should be display_mode 0 Save and close the file after. The game should now not crash anymore on start up.

Mind you, if you change the display settings within the game, and then close the game, it will start crashing on start up again, meaning you will have to repeat what you did with the save file like you did before. Or before you close the game you can put the display back on its original setting.

Highly highly doubt this will be fixed or patched, but if it does i'll change my review. Sucks because I really like these type of games, but I dont really feel like jumping through so many hoops to play it.

edit below -- Where do I begin? I have been playing this game since it nearly came out. Back when it cost 5 bucks and when you could get a free key from watching twitch streams. 800+ hours.

The core element of this game is amazing, however it is poorly executed by terrible devs. Betadwarf might possibly be the most clueless developers I have ever encountered. You don't have to take my word for this, you can look at the steamdb info page to see the player base has been in a steady decline. They had a bit of a surge a few years back, but its back on its decline. Why? Its because the Betadwarf can't seem to get anything right. From broken game mechanics, bugs, and horrible balance changes that leave most players bewildered as to why they made the changes they made. Most of the time its because they look at match analytics and make changes based off that. That's not a good measure to make balance changes, it leaves you wondering if they even play their own game. And to top it all off, don't mention any of this in the in game chat, cause you'll just get banned.

From horrible balance changes that last for MONTHS, to broken game modes for MONTHS. Bugs that last for MONTHS. A report system that DOESNT work. So what does Betadwarf decide to do? Well screw Minion Masters and fixing what we already have, we are going to work on MM 2.0 that will be optimized for mobile as well, as well as making changes to the current game to fit the average mobile user, faster matches, ect. I can't even begin to list all the miss steps Betadwarf has made in the years that this game has been out. They have such an amazing and wonderful core mechanic that is ruined by the terrible decisions they make month after month.

My advice is to stay away from the game, its dying, and doubtful the mobile is going to save it, I've seen footage of it, and it runs like garbage, not to mention how are they going to manage rage quitters on that big of a scale when they cant even handle it now with only an average of 1k players. I only have so many hours because I was holding onto hope that one day the game would have balance issues worked out, or at least a meta shift every couple of months.

-------edit-----------

Well, they finally did it, they finally killed the game. This Minion Masters 2.0 upgrade is really just a downgrade. Players had knowledge the game was being pushed to mobile, but it just got a sad treatment on PC, its looks and feels cheap, the UI is really bad, the match mechanics have been moving towards a more mobile friendly system for quicker matches, and you really feel this in game. They took away Ruby (in game currency) rewards for getting higher ranks in the game. There were multiple bugs and glitches upon release which took thems months to fix, and still have things to fix, like audio and visual things.

2.0 didnt take off like they wanted because of this, and the player count is now probably the lowest its ever been. How is this even possible when the game was released on mobile? Oh thats right, its runs like crap. 75% of my games are bot matches. Even at higher ranks.

In short, they ignored all player feedback, turned their back on the hardcore players keeping this game alive to cater to a more mobile friendly game, but also releasing it in a horribly broken state. The game is dead, I dont see a recovery in sight unless they sell the game to EPIC or something drastic. They have mishandled what could have been a cashcow, an awesome strategic competative game on par with the best of them. Its been sadly dumbed down and reduced to mobile game garbage.

Meanwhile betadwarf is putting all their efforts into a fantasy ARPG, hope it was worth it.

This game lacks a lot of features that a bridge building game should have in this day in age. Its pretty bare bones and basic. For starters THERE IS NO FAST FORWARD FEATURE. Its so time consuming to tweak one thing on your bridge and have to watch it run, have it not work, tweak, run again. No leaderboards, which is sad because the original bridge builder game has one. No real challenge since you get unlimited resources to build with. Why not add a build under a certain cost, build without breaking anything? Why not add different vehicle types? As far as I know there is only one vehicle in the game, so don't fall for the trailer which shows you a moving truck. That's all stuff that could easily be put in and add replay value.

Yes it has really cool mechanics from the portal games, but that's about it. I would say save your money and buy Polybridge.

The start of the game is brutal, you complete a mission and get some souls (currency) only to have half of them being taken away by mobs who kill you really fast. Mobs respawn when you barely walk away so trying to navigate and run away from a mob usually leads to you backtracking to aggro another mob you already killed. I spent the first part killing one monster over and over just to level up my health regen. And that helped somewhat.

I did eventually get to a point where I was slaying enemies easily, even in big groups. The next problem was that there is no map system, so trying to figure out where I needed to go was impossible. Oh I need to find someone? Thanks for telling me, how about showing me. I ran aimlessly around trying to find anything and I found a village, but I dont think it was the right one, the game doesnt really give you any information. I then ran into mobs that were much harder and got slayed... Wouldnt you know it, spawned at the very start of the game. Still not knowing where to go.

This is where I quit, with no story, no atmosphere, no information, grindey gameplay, I could stand it no more. I'm glad I got this game in a humble pack because 5 dollars is to much for this.
