Over the past ~5-6ish months this game has held an iron grip on my brain and my free time. I love Hellsinker. probably more than whatever constitutes as healthily enjoying something. Hellsinker. is an endlessly deep shmup rich in both mechanical gameplay, actual gameplay, and story alike. I'm just entering the 100 hour checkpoint and I can safely say I'm only really half-decent with 1 of the 4 (7?) characters. This marks the 5th time I've made a review on this game. I explored every possible avenue regarding fan content and scraps of what was officially made regarding the game.

Hellsinker. is a game of learning. Learning, learning, the student will continue to learn until it can learn no longer. Though chances are, that time will never come.

You're given 4 buttons (mainshot, subweapon, bomb, slowdown) and consequently you are provided with some of the most tightly packed complex controls providing the most multifaceted gameplay I've ever seen within a shmup. Everything about the design is intentional yet you're not constrained to playing in any one playstyle. Characters retain a bit of knowledge from loadout to loadout but you will often find yourself confused as if you were playing an entirely different game. The stage layouts are so perfectly designed and tuned to accustom themselves to each character and their playstyles. This game is a masterwork of an indie title.

This game goes on sale for $5 dollars. If you have any shred of interest, please buy this game. I cannot stress enough my love towards the game, its story, and everything revolving around it. Quite simply one of the most tuned and engaging experiences I've had with a game perhaps ever.

My time with 100%ing the game was most certainly one of the most relieving and joyous moments I've had with a video game in far too long of a time. I seriously can't thank whoever enough did the work for getting this game on Steam. A one of a kind title.
