Street Fighter 6 is an amazing traditional fighting game and one of the best traditional fighting games for new players to get into the genre, if you're like me you starting playing fighting games through Smash Bros but was somewhat intimidated by traditional fighting games.

I myself got the game day 1 and grinded the game out, and let me tell you, overtime you'll do motion inputs straight from muscle memory, and best of all, if you still don't want to do motion inputs, there is a control scheme for you, being the Modern control scheme. Which binds all special moves to one button, kind of like Smash Bros. Not to mention there is a full story/adventure mode called "World Tour" that essentially tricks you into learning the game, so if you tried getting into traditional fighting games before but didn't want to go through a giant wall of text tutorial, World Tour is your best friend for learning the game.

As of right now there are 20 fighters, 2 are DLC (Rashid and A.K.I) and the rest are base roster. Some of the fighters are somewhat stronger than the others (JP, Ken and Luke), but if you're a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like me the tier list doesn't really matter as the game is very much extremely balanced.

With all the positives being said the largest negative of the game is the premium currency, being the Fighter Coins. In order to actually buy DLC characters separately from the Year pass, or just buying Outfit 3, you have to buy packs of Fighter Coins. Doesn't sound like a big deal right? Well, the main problem is in order to buy one dlc fighter it costs 350 Fighter Coins. And in order to buy one outfit 3 costume, it costs 300 Fighter Coins. Now whats the issue here? Simple, the packs to buy fighter coins are 250 Coins for $4.99, 310 for $11.99, 1250 Coins for $23.99 and 2750 Coins for $49.99. In order to just buy one DLC fighter or one costume you are always going to have to Overpay. So if you just wanted Rashid for 350 Coins, instead of just going to the steam store and spending $7-$8, you have to buy the 250 Coin pack twice, which is basically $10, for one DLC fighter.

Even with the scummy monetization I still recommend playing Street Fighter 6, if you are going to buy, either get the base game or the deluxe edition, as the deluxe edition contains the Year 1 Pass, so you'll have instant access to Rashid and A.K.I, as well as Ed and Akuma when they release in 2024.

This game unironically sucks and the only people who should play it are crippling addicts like me.

Matchmaking is basically a coinflip on whether you get to stop or the enemy stomps you, it gets overwhelmingly one sided to the point where you're just wasting your time, not to mention Overwatch 1s ranked system wasn't broken so why even try and fix it with an even more confusing system

Monetization is horrible and doesn't even work correctly on steam, don't even buy the $15 "story mode", horrible excuse for a PvE

Speaking of PvE this company cant keep their promises, Overwatch 2 literally just is an engine update with worse matchmaking.

Push as a mode sucks and is overwhelmingly first fight sided, essentially win first fight and you're already more likely to win, despite literally everybody with a brain hating it, somehow it stayed in competitive for over 5 seasons (10 months)

Nothing gets fixed meaningfully and is instead just a band aid fix for a bigger problem. As an update they decided to add cooldowns for leaving quick play matches, really? Instead of actually fixing the main problem being the broken matchmaking you decide to punish people for leaving quickplay? Quickplay, the casual mode, with cooldowns. Talk about doing everything wrong with a GaaS game.

But none of this criticism matters anyways because they'll keep raking in cash by adding skins and people like me will continue to play for over 1000 hours despite absolutely hating the games state. Overwatch 2 is the League of Legends of shooters
