Either Sonic Team gets rebuilt from the ground up or this franchise will never escape the status of ENDLESS, ETERNAL M I D, dawg.

A beautifully bizarre and captivating short 20 minutes worth of psychological horror, drama and humor where literally the only issue I had was the fact that it was over so soon. The best 50 cents I ever spent. On to the sequel!

I honestly can't believe that this game is free. Granted, it's more of a prologue to the full thing which is coming out... whenever, but the amount of polish, style and content that's given away here for the sum of zero cents is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great. It's a must download if you're into rhythm games, seriously.

I absolutely love everything about the visuals in this game. From the Studio Trigger esque character and world design to the dynamically animated menus. And oh my god, don't even get me started on the (newly updated) tutorial song. It's basically a playable version of the opening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and it plays and looks about as cool as it sounds.

As for the gameplay; It's great! If you've ever played Muse Dash, then you'll probably feel right at home here. Though now, instead of just having two places on screen that you have to manage by punching the enemies to the beat (top and bottom in front of your character) the game likes to play around and make your character turn around to face the enmies behind her or even zoom out and make you pay attention to the upper and bottom left and right, as enemies come out from all afrementioned directions, all at the same time. So you'll often see yourself having to dart your eyes all over the place to keep your full combo going, assuming you play on Normal and beyond. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get used to it and hit those sweet A and S ranks, it's just satisfying as ♥♥♥♥.

A rhythm game obviously needs some good music as well, because that's basically the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point and I'd say that Unbeatable delivers in this aspect as well! Mostly, at least. Some of the vocals in select tracks ain't really my style, but music is totally subjective, so I'll let you be the judge on that one.

One thing that I found pretty damn interesting is that the game *kinda* has a story. Or at least scenes that set up the story in the full game. As you beat the stages bit by bit, you'll get these really beautifully drawn illustrations of Beat's (the MC!!) past life and her experiences with music that shaped her into the person that she is now. The in comparison damn near incomprehensible dialogue between her and her band of friends feels kinda jarring, but I dunno, I kinda like it. Kinda curious if we're gonna get more of those interesting introspective scenes or the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-y ones in the final game.

TL;DR: PLAY THIS GAME. NOW. IT'S FREE FOR ♥♥♥♥'S SAKE DO IT
