Ok when I first looked at the store page for this game I thought it would be a quick simple game for $14.99 man I was wrong, you know when you focus on a game so much or play really hard to win you don’t actually stop and enjoy it? Happens to me a lot but not for one moment did I not enjoy this game. It made me feel some kind of way about it I felt like I was in the story just a simple adventurer going on a quest for glory. I’ve never played a game that made me feel so different about how I see the world and that’s only after I looked at every piece of lore I could find. The art style and story is incredible it reminds me of studio ghibli that magical world that you never quite know how it started but than it pulls you in on it’s darker side of the story about a fallen kingdom and all that remains. I can’t tell you the fear I had when I first fell into deepnest I was relieved just to make into the next room! Never went back again until I was ready and that’s the best part you can do things at your own pace and you always get rewarded when you put in the time to look around. I always get excited when you get a required item to pass the next room or backtrack to another it’s so cool see that glimmering light and look at what’s around and think “hey cool! A new item”. First time beating was about 40-50 hours to complete (I play offline so my hours are a little weird) there is just so much to do in this game. I actually refused to play ANY other game until I had collected everything I could on my save like items, charms, the enemy log book thingy even all the pickups you could find to simply sell for some extra cash. A lot of people say this game is like dark souls let’s face it a lot of game are these days whenever I died I never felt like it was anyone’s fault but mine and while the death mechanic can be heartbreaking if you loose all dat sweet sweet geo it feels even better when you take it back. The game doesn’t exactly hold your hand for you have to figure a lot of stuff on your own but is feels good to do it without the help of the all mighty google like when you have one of those moments when your lost and don’t know what to do and suddenly you know where to go after triggering an event or thought I’ve looked a everywhere but here sorta thing. I loved backtracking with the help of the map, would never leave town without it. There’s really a deep sense of satisfaction here when you complete stuff but you always feel like your just on the verge of discovering something greater, it’s like when you read the first page of a new chapter in a book and you just wanna keep going. The boss fight were thrilling and intense, the normal enemies were thrilling and intense, the lore was thrilling and intense and the Grimm troupe was...........intriguing and creepy. The combat was exciting and fun I would always learn others ways of taking down your prey although I do love swinging my sword around above all else. The boss fights were hard but fair reminded me a lot of cuphead actually, there was a strategy to them where one way was easier than the others or you could just wing, practice and go all out on the guy. I actually wanted to fight them again because I got so pumped beating them and you can do that with some bosses, fight a harder version of it. Never have I seen a game so cared for and done right for a single player experience, since a lot of games are online and multiplayer based nowadays. Honestly this game is super cheap for what you get in return one of the few games I bought at full price and thought was best money I ever spent, it was a steal. If you made it all the way down here thanks for reading I appreciate it! But stop reading and start playing hallownest awaits!
