Almost 1000 hours and holy moly donut shop I am impressed at how the popularity and enjoyment of this game can be represented as a mountain on a graph. Not gonna lie the start of this game was rough, with unbalanced characters followed by a flood of cheaters and exploits. The developers seemingly revamped this game and suddenly its popularity skyrocketed. The introduction of fresh mechanics to the fps scene is what drew most people in, like myself. At a point in time I could boldly say that this game was better than CSGO despite being completely different. The unique set operators made each match different and refreshing. As a spawn-peeking ♥♥♥♥ i'd definitely say I had my fun. After the release of Vigil and Dokkaebi, I noticed that my enjoyment began its decline. The introduction of newer characters that were literally just variations on the older base characters made the game needlessly complex. The game became ♥♥♥♥ show similar to Overwatch with its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ operators and hard character counters. If you didn't have the right set of operators to match the opposition you were left to run in blind hoping your years in COD prepared you well enough. And just when you thought rushing in was viable, Ubisoft decided to add a whole roster of characters designed to stomp on the kids looking to fill their highlight reel with Ash clips. And with that introduction of wonderful operators, I ran onto site just to be greeted with invisible poison mines, bear traps, holographic girls, laser-wired explosives, concussion mines, and a bald black woman electrocuting me from 15 meters just for me to be gunned down by a rook with acog through a hole with the diameter of a bottle cap. I haven't even began to mention the absurd amount of glitches and bugs this game has. Ranging from infinite heals, 100% hipfire accuracy behind with shield, or even causing my $1000 gaming pc to dip to 10 fps because someone wants to ♥♥♥♥ the game over instead of actually playing. Despite this however, I was able to look past through (some) bugs and continued playing. With over 50 operators now I can safely say wholeheartedly that the entire game is a cluster♥♥♥♥ disguising itself as a serious and competitive tactical shooter. I became beyond confused at how and when the game had its attackers holding angles for 2 minutes scared of defenders who rushed out or spawn-peeked just to have them (again) rush in blindly hoping to clutch the round only to face off against a barrage of hidden traps. Ubisoft really thought they did something releasing this many operators like it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ League of Legends (yall clowns for that one). Overall, I DID enjoy the game for a certain period of time, but after coming back to the game just recently (for a brief moment) I can absolutely, 100% guarantee your dissatisfaction with this game. I give it a 4/10. Just play valorant bruh.

CS:GO Review
After an accumulated 1300 hours I believe I can now give an honest and accurate review of this game. Before continuing I'd like to first say I am complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at this game. With that being said, this game was not forgiving to a former COD sweat. You try to move when shooting and suddenly you got a bullet being delivered to Africa with a postcard that says ♥♥♥♥ you. The veterans that play made you feel like you really were complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ after dumping a whole clip into them just to see that your bullets made a damn crime scene outline of their body. Despite this, I can safely say I got borderline mediocre at this game after 1000 hours. After that built up confidence and 1k hours of experience behind my back, I attempted to come back to matchmaking after a hiatus. Going into matchmaking I didn't know what to expect but I hoped to be greeted with a competitive atmosphere and serious team communication. Unfortunately for me, silvers aren't granted this luxury. Speaking with teammates in an effort to win rounds resulted in a bombardment of insults and racial slurs, and it brought a smile to my face and a feeling of nostalgia as if I was playing COD on xbox once again. The only complaint I have is absurd amount of hackers that plague matchmaking. Valve couldn't do ♥♥♥♥ to stop the flood of hackers and they even tried to introduce a "Trust Factor" as if the closet weebs at home didn't have the time or money to make new accounts (yall clowns for that one). Their reaction to the situation? They made the game free. Now I'm out here gettin absolutely clapped in my gold nova games by a level 3 who's popping my head with a deagle down mid through doors and my smoke. And from that point, I can say without a doubt, I absolutely hate the headshot noise followed by a fading screen while I switch to spectator only to see my teammate suffer the same fate while screaming in the mic "where's my team". Overall though I find the game fun and when matchmaking is treating me like dookie I can always enjoy surfing with my game-file-altering karambit doppler while some DJ in the voice chat is blasting his no-copyright beats and someone else attempts to rap over it. I give the game a solid 8/10.

(UPDATED REVIEW)

Initial Thoughts:

I have made a severe and continuous lapse in judgment... is what you thought I'd say if the game was able to pull itself out of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it dug for itself 4 years ago. Don't get me wrong, you can definitely have fun with this game to a certain extent. This review is 100% biased because I'm a toxic little ♥♥♥♥ whose gameplay reflects his personality. The "competitive" aspect of this game is a circus show but playing the game strictly casually can be fun. In my previous review of the game, I mainly complained about the imbalance of different characters and how developers failed to listen in order to resolve the skill and power gap between different characters. After calming down from my 3-4 year tantrum, I actually matured just a bit while also realizing I was complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ compared to the majority of the player base, so I can finally give a less rage-induced review.

Game Review:

The root of my negative experiences with this game came from the ♥♥♥♥ show they call ranked. I don't recommend this game if you're looking for a competitive game similar to Super Smash Bros, but to be honest I can't say I'd recommend it for people looking for a fun time either. Unless you're playing in a lobby with just friends you are 100% guaranteed to face off against a guy who thinks he's going pro in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Brawlhalla of all games, and after having your anus obliterated they'll follow up in the post-game chat with a barrage of insults and/or racial slurs. In an attempt to set itself apart from other platform fighter games, developers altered different aspects of the game resulting in mechanics not suited for competitive play.

In all of Brawlhalla's history, the gameplay mechanics have supported a "passive" style of play where the majority of games are determined by one's ability to read their opponents' movements and counterattacks. You're stuck to playing like grade-A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in order to win and it's not rewarding whatsoever. This game doesn't give you a real sense of progression nor does it reward the effort that you put in to actually learn combos or other aspects of combat in the game. You put in countless hours just to lose to some person playing like he's an illegal immigrant without a green card getting chased by ICE. I wish I had known the state of competitive before playing. A 14-year-old me queued for rank with high hopes just to get read like a children's picture book, while simultaneously having my cheeks clapped like I was being featured in a porno.

Addressing my own complaints about character balance issues, creators developed a system where different characters have different stats (strength, dexterity, defense, speed) in an attempt to balance characters. Of course, games like Brawlhalla are unable to avoid the power gap between their characters, but some characters are definitely outclassed by others. However, the power gap between the majority of characters isn't too substantial where it becomes detrimental to the game (Caspian is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ though don't play him like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ he's garbage).

Overall, my negative experiences with the game that shaped me into the toxic meta-conforming ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I am today, but I'd say the game can be fun to a certain extent. Playing the game with friends is what you'd expect but that's really it. The unrefined gameplay mechanics hinder my enjoyment of the game but it's decent enough to pass time (like an hour max). If you still insist on playing the game, remember to not touch ranked, and that the game's quality is what you'd expect of a free to play Super Smash Bros knockoff. As one of the least qualified game-reviewers, I give this game a solid 6/10.
