I haven't played much but holey this game is fun. firing a shoulder mounted auto-cannon until there's a pile of foot long shells at your feet is just so satisfying.

Having clocked somewhere around 9 hours in the closed beta, then a further 34 in the open. I can safely say that THE FINALS is pretty much the best game I've played in a very long time. A lot of the critiques I've seen of the game boil down to frustrations that it doesn't play like other games currently on the market. You can't reliably solo entire opposing teams (especially not in competitive, and generally fights aren't won or lost depending on gunplay alone.
That's because the finals isn't trying to be like other games on the market. It's centred around teamwork, positioning and smart gadget use. Light has too low of a health pool to win most straight fights because you aren't meant to be getting into straight fights as a light and especially not alone. Team composition and teamwork make or break most fights and the combos you can creat with three characters and a range of possible weapons and gadgets is super fun to mess around with.
In terms of mechanics, the games destruction engine completely changes the way you think after playing for a while. And the devs have given you a huge number of ways to mess with the map.
Speaking of maps, there are plenty to choose from, and they all change the feel of each map in interesting ways. From changes in visibility to verticality, there are heaps of things that you need to consider when loading in. While a number of these don't directly impact gameplay it at least give variety and keeps things fresh.
In terms of weapons and gadgets, there aren't CoD numbers but there are enough to keep me happy atheist and there is certainly something for pretty much any playstyle. While there are obviously metas emerging all of the time that are somewhat dominant in comp. Most weapons can be pared well enough with different gadgets to be fun if not viable to play.
Movement and animations are also crisp. I'm not an expert on any of this stuff but it hasn't distracted me from the rest of the game so it's good enough imo.
Now for my favourite part. The customisation. I genuinely haven't encountered customisation so detailed outside of a few mmos. Unfortunately there are no sliders for in depth face and body shape but in terms of clothes, charms, animations, tattoos, stickers, weapons skins, inspects, pets, bags, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm sure some people will scream about monetisation but seriously this is the best system I've seen yet. No more operators or set avatars. You purchase bundles or individual items and then you can mix and Mach however you'd like.
Anyway. Pretty fun game. Would recommend. It is almost definitely going to ruin my life. :D

A lot of people are attacking this based on what they think it should do as a FBT option. It isn't an FBT option. Its literally in the name. It ESTIMATES where your body should be. In my opinion its pretty impressive how much better it is than the basic half-body experience in vrc. I've found its pretty good in most positions and lets you express a lot more with body language. If you actually watch the setup guide and play around with it a bit its quite easy to re-calibrate and fix some of the leg-crossing issues. For what it is, this software does a great job and is well worth the price (when compared to alternatives). I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops with future updates.
