It's fun, it's good a bit of spooky, mixed with fun science, I only wish our glorious chariot made more muscly engine noises from upgraded engines

At this point in the development, this game is fun and addicting as hell. There are a few core features missing that one would want in this genre of game, but the development is headed in a great direction towards a fun, playable and logical direction. Giving players a challenge while still maintaining the goal being to have fun.

The good;

- The ability of being able to choose more to difficulty then whether or not permadeath is on is great, allows new players to more easily get into the game, with the hard mode being enough of a step up in difficulty to satisfy those who want a more challenging experience. Easy difficulty starting you out with more funding, and more resources at the start of a save, while hard mode gives you a real gritty feeling real life experience without ever feeling like it's just being hard because it can.

- The way the economy is set up turns into a very enjoyable grind where your achievements are obtainable but not given out like free candy. With several different ways to finance your playthrough that fit different levels of effort, ability, knowledge and patience.

- The vehicle customization, despite being unfinished, is still very excellent and makes you feel like you have plenty of options on how to direct your projects.

- The emphasis on interaction with the world around you without just forcing you into monotonous tasks really manages to bring the gameplay and story to life, letting you get fully immersed into a game that at surface level should be simple.

- dog. you get a pet dog. he's a very good boy

- More of your available fleet is customisation, allowing for you to make more of you stuff actually feel yours.

The not so great;

- The way the "needs" bars fill up can seem very frustrating at first, with the bar filling up completely instantly killing you without any buffer time, it can make it feel really frustrating when you die 3 feet away from a life saving drink of maple syrup or a bone relaxing nap. A little more wiggle room once the bar has filled would be appreciated especially when at night can be hard to tell exactly how full the bar is due to the lack of contrast from the game to the background of the needs list

- Some quality of life improvements could be made towards hitbox detection on vehicles and items, it's not uncommon for items to fall through the floors of your vehicle, or up through the dash on the OlTruck. Another known issue in the same regard is how a vehicle with cargo gets sorta.. weird when you apply the parking brake. It's almost as if the momentum the world is trying to enact on the parked vehicle is applying to the cargo as well despite the vehicle not moving, this can lead to logs magically climbing out of your truck or trailer, items reorganising themselves or sliding out as you're loading them, and things to get disorganised and messy fast. It should be noted it is a known bug and may be fixed in a future release.

- Not all items lost to an unrecoverable spot, such as the bottom of the rivers, can be rescued using the game's services. This can be a rather large budget killer when you lose pricey items that duplicate when purchased to become lost just out of arms reach,

- The driving physics are not quite refined yet, it's not bad, just a little bit of a soft spot when compared to how great the customisation is. By the looks of it this is something that is constantly getting attention in terms of updates and should be to better standards by launch.

Overall, I really like this game, it ties together a couple known concepts into it's own, special feeling way. I've already sunk almost 60 hours into this game in the last week since I finally bought it, and I plan to keep playing it in the future. I may come back and revise the review come time of full release.

it's not that great, just the same ancient game engine and horrible driving physics. it's just a time sink.

I love the graphics and the design of the game. but. it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crashes in the beginning of the second mission. I have an I9-9900k, RTX 2070 super, and a fresh windows 10 install. This is completely unacceptable for a game to crash for no good reason like this.

This game used to be awesome, it used to have lots of minor bugs that almost helped you enjoy the game, it used to let you take dumb risks and risk completely ruining perma death saves for time save or trying quirky stuff that very well could break the physics engine (such as carrying the pit bike across the water on the boat). Recent development has taken a turn towards the worst solution. This game is just not fun anymore, all the fun ways to play have been patched out, but all of the major frustrating bugs like parts falling through the world or falling off the car between saves still exist. Every aspect of this game has gone from good to poor, it has plenty of detail, and posed a nice challenge. But I finally am uninstalling this game and won't be buying the sequel because everything I loved about MSC got ruined by a developer with a different vision for a game based on F***ing unity engine. I'm sorry.

TL:DR Developer has decided enjoyment should be traded for "patience" (just go live real life or play any other game). I used to enjoy this game with and without mods, but the developer has tanked it's playablity and ruined the prospects for the future of the series.

Regardless of if you're playing this on a broken 5 year old laptop, or a brand new $3000 gaming PC with a simulator steering wheel and such. This game is f***ing fun. It's great, it was worth backing it before it got greenlit, it is now packed to the brim with neat features and is constantly expanding. It simulates a lot of things really well, there is only a few things I would like added (like being able to tune engines to run terribly, or make diesels cloudy as heck) but overall it's a good way to burn some time or buckle down for a hardcore driving/racing session.
