Mafia 3 has a great and engaging story line that is imo ruined by big wig execs that forced Hangar13 to release an unfinished game . This game could have been so much more with another year of development. The city itself provides a great canvas for something special but the opportunity gets squandered. First off, the city is inhabited by lifeless NPC zombies who show no semblance that they are doing their own thing or are aware of their surroundings (watchdogs and watchdogs 2 provide better examples of how your NPC characters should behave in a city imo). Enemy and friendly a.i. (Like in Stones DLC or with the hit squad perk) is flat out atrocious. They are so dumb that they barely provide resistance as enemies or assistance as support. They don't know how to utilize cover or tactics very well nor do they value their lives. In the Stones DLC I died multiple times trying to revive A.I. Donovan because he would stand out in the open like an idiot and/or shoot in the wrong direction entirely providing no help. The graphics are nothing to write home about either for the most part as textures often appear muddy and unrefined no matter the setting with suspect lighting and a terrible day/night transition (A modder created a reshade file that made the game look much better than out of the box which I give the devs zero credit for ).

When I heard they were making a "Definitive Edition" I held out hope they would use that opportunity to fix some of these issues but it appears they did absolutely nothing but include all the DLC. No noticeable graphical enhancements. Zero A.I. /NPC improvements(IMO the games biggest fault). No additions like a desperately needed fast travel system. Nothing! Truly a missed opportunity for this game to right some of it's wrongs.

Despite all these complaints I certainly got my money's worth out of this title and then some . Fortunately I got this on sale when it was $10 as I would have been pissed if I had paid a full $60 for it. The game has a great story and voice acting which influences me to keep playing to see what comes next. The music is top notch and really helps put you in the time period . The driving model is solid imo. The city itself can be beautiful to look at at times (The inhabitants inactivity give the city zero life though). Gun play is fun enough and game mechanics of dividing up your empire among your partners is a cool concept. Unfortunately I am often left wondering to myself what could have been with this game if more time was put into it..A real shame.. I would recommend this game only if it is on sale (60%-70% off)

I would love a refund for this game and it's brother (Front Page Sports Football). While the football game atleast works (most of the time) This game routinely crashes to the desktop whenever I try to play a game. I can simulate a game but whenever I attempt to play I get "BPM2015 not responding", constant looping and I have to eventually close the program. Steam should take a long hard look in regards to allowing these two games to exist on their site given all the similar feedback..
