I've never reviewed this game before despite having a couple thousand hours under my belt, and i gotta say, were I to review this 5-8 years ago, I'd have said it was great, it really was! But now with every server being infested with bots, mic spamming, aimbotting team kicking nuisances designed to grief and destroy matches. The game is such a headache to play. I want them gone. Silencing free to plays didn't help, some anti-cheat fixes weren't enough. This needs to end, actually fix the problem. Because as it stands this game is hostile to new and existing players alike, and not just in player experience, these bot hosters are hostile to the players themselves singling out community members and harassing them! This game has developed a cheating mafia! In it's current state this game deserves the thumbs down, despite being one of the greatest games of all time, it has been rendered nearly unplayable! Fix it! #FixTF2

This game is some of the most fun I've had in a shooter. This game has a small but growing community, and excellent non frustrating game-play, on account of playing very similarly to Unreal Tournament. Your own skill matters a lot, and you aren't likely to be steam rolled just because you aren't a perfect team player

Mix this with the movement mechanics, and reasonable movement speed of players and aiming feels good and responsive. My biggest criticisms would be that the sound design is very confusing at times, with hit sounds, and kill noises not being very punchy or distinct. They took me a while to really get after I started, I missed them completely at first. And the visual style is both very simple, and arguably a little screwy with team recognition sometimes. The game is however open source, so any issues can be fixed and adjusted later.

A note before we start: I love this game it's unique and I wish there was more gems like this, I however, plan to give a

complete analysis of the game based solely on my time played, I'll try to explain things that wont be immediately obvious

in parentheses.

Okay so I'm going to be, probably one of the most objective veiws you will ever get having a little over 130 hours at the

time of writing this, It's a good game, the mechanics are unique and fun, and has a good amount of cheap dlc that was

added after this game originally came about, they are all packed with amazing game altering content, including but not

limited to, heroes, major modules (kind of a big deal), Pods(gamemodes) and in the case of the rescue team dlc new

monsters(and heroes).

However despite all of this it has some major design flaws, which can put a damper on you if you are ill tempered, or

just don't like being screwed over and are very reactive about it. You see as you progress in floors there is a difficulty

scaling, and a rather unforgiving one later on, which sounds thrilling, untill you realize there is no protocol that dictates

whether the generation is fair, or even beatable. You see the game lacks a kind of late game sanity testing(specifically for

resource generation).

In order to light rooms, which prevents monster spawning, you need, and I mean NEED dust, it takes

10 per room, and the game will overwhelm you with an unstoppable swarm of monsters if you don't manage to get at

least 3 normal rooms(about the size of the elavator platform from floor 2 onward) worth of space, a large enough horde of

monsters could power through and destroy you. your crystal, and any resource or defense modules along the way if anti

modules are involved(which would deplete your resources regardless even if you survived), the problem that I've been

getting at for almost a paragraph now is this: in later floors it only starts you off with about 1 room of dust, and the

chances of any dust when entering a room goes lower and lower, this can and will(sometimes) kill you because there is no

algorithim to put so much dust in this or that room every few rooms, it is entirely luck and if the RNG doesnt want to work

with you, you may as well start digging your own grave, because in the uncommon, but still common enough to note,

situations, the game goes from hard to completely unfair as you have 8 waves of monsters approaching from 2 directions

and eating your heroes alive (quite literally if the elavator chats are anything to go by) and are faced with literally

unwinnable odds, as you run out of food and are extremely out DPS'd by like 50 monsters in the same room as you, as you

die even faster when your heroes fall one by one, reducing your DPS, and if you somehow survive that, congratulations,

you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyways because there is no mercy system in place to prevent the exact same type of horde from just

spawning in and finishing off your remaining characters(who will not be as capable because of the severe DPS drop from

others dying) the next time you open a door, and you'll promptly lose anyways.

With that in mind, if you can prepare for such crazy situations, and are willing to accept that some r uns are actually

unwinnable, the ones you do win feel very rewarding, however if rolling dice(and potentially good conversation fuel) isn't

your thing, then I wouldn't reccomend buying this. If however, you're fine with that, buy it, we'd be glad to have you, the

public multiplayer would be so much better with more people in it, and personally despite the balancing issues its very

good for conversation and is actually pretty fun to play, even in single player, as the variety of different gamemodes offer

"endless" entertainment. Again, provided you're fine with rolling dice late game.

I hope this lets you know what you're getting yourself into, and if you're willing to play this despite the flaws, I

suppose I may be seeing you around, just make sure to host a public lobby every once and a while.
