Strongly reminds me of the good ol times of Terraria. Really really great game. Definitely recommend picking it up on release.

A complete mess of a game, you fall through the floor of the level as soon as you spawn whether it's level 2, 4 or 6. Go play literally anything else, don't waste your time. First level is a regurgitated version of the cathedral version all over again. Uninspired and boring.

They changed the story and I love the cinematic. The original levels got beautiful touch ups but personally I still much prefer 2004's atmosphere. I feel like these graphics lost the charms of the previous one. The gameplay is good old Painkiller arena shooter, no complaints there. While I got the DLCs for pretty cheap, it was a really weird move to turn some original levels into DLCs for so much back in the day. I definitely recommend playing this arena shooter.

I want to say I enjoyed myself but I can't. It was boring, repetitive and the levels were beyond claustrophobic with hundreds of enemies swarming you in and if you try to use explosives then say goodbye to your legs because you're in the same radius. Bunnyhopping is useless here until chapter 1's last level and chapter 2's where it becomes more open. Really uneventful and could've used more bosses, I don't understand what is up with these fan games and the lack of bosses. I know the original has a boss per chapter but still, a boss each level would've been great to spice it up a little. I don't recommend racking your brains with this but if you're like me and love Painkiller, good luck enduring this.

In comparison to Redemption, this installment shines with decent levels that are way more creative. There isn't as much cramping and I realized that Hell and Damnation got inspiration for its top down level DLC from the graveyard level here. All in all, a good time killer if you're into arena shooters and want more Painkiller.

Really hard to have fun. What is even the point in the rest of the characters or choosing any when there's so much spamming going around that there's no point in strategizing. Leveling up the abilities doesn't seem to make much of a difference either. Balancing needs to be done ASAP

Return of Rome brings back the ancient civilizations and the gameplay of the original Age of Empires 1 to this marvelous updated engine. One of the standout improvements is the pathfinding and as you know is an extremely important aspect in this genre, which is no longer an annoyance. Formations are now possible, you can garrison units so you don't get rushed by scouts anymore, although it won't act as a defensive building like in Age of Empires 2. You can build gates.

If you're a fan of the classic Age of Empires 1 or simply want to relive the golden days, this is unquestionably the definitive way to do it. If you don't have Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, then this is the best way to get back into Age of Empires 1. And rest assured, it's bound to become more affordable over time.

I wasn't a fan of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition as it accentuated the flaws of the original heavily. If only they could offer the 1997 version on GOG or a similar platform. Nevertheless, the release of this gem more than compensates for it. While it could benefit from incorporating the old campaigns and more, I find myself loving it in its current state. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking to relive or experience the magic of Age of Empires 1.

I assume the lack of a tutorial is due to the fact the DLC is targeted towards the veterans but there aren't that many changes that would necessitate a tutorial. Hunting animals requires you to have a storage building/town center instead of a granary/mill. That's really about it. You don't start with a scout either. I understand people are upset that they left AOE:DE in the dust, but as far as I know they wanted to keep the original feel of the game. Here they don't have to, since it's the Age of Empires 2 engine so they took the liberty to add changes that could've made AOE:DE the updated version everyone was looking for.

I miss CD. Silly and full of charm. While I love Fortnite, CD was way better. There was no sweating, just having a good time. I hope one day it will come back.
