Left Alive is a brilliant and full experience. Although brought down by admittedly janky gameplay and a few bugs, the game is very much playable and rewarding. The Wanzer sections are so much fun, they are a b*tch to control but it is really satisfying pulling of some manoeuvres then overcoming the equally powerful opponents, sometimes outnumbered. The stealth survival gameplay was serviceable, I'll note I found there to be a lot of resources available despite being on the hardest difficulty. The ability to share items between the characters through mutual chests was an interesting concept. There are plenty of things to do in the 14 chapters of this game, from the side quests in which you guide the citizens of Novo Slava to shelter, with each a story of their own - to exploring the large open maps.

Beneath the jank and unpolish is a confronting story of survival and decisions that share themes with world events currently unfolding right now... The 3 playable characters are all very captivating, charming and relatable in their own way. The way their motives, circumstances and personal story of struggle collide with each other is woven in a creative manner. The story is largely on rails with the end goal being to survive the ongoing conflict but you can achieve different and interesting outcomes for the characters based on dialogue options. The game may end on the same point of escaping the city but the feeling of satisfaction you receive, for the conclusions of each character will be based entirely on the decisions you make in cut-scenes and optional objectives you complete. Some later cut-scenes were really tugging at my heartstrings and had me agonising of what dialogue / story decision I should choose. As the credits started to roll, I read through the information panels, detailing the outcomes of each of the the characters and thought to myself what could I have done better?

I highly recommend this game, I will play New Game + at some point as there is plenty to the story of Novo Slava I have yet to experience. As this game is fairly dated at this stage, I would agree with other reviewers to await a sale. otherwise please consider this

Halo has returned.

In my current and only game, I have reached the second town for the main quest. After talking with the elder as the quest asked I did not get any new quest objectives. I am now seemingly stuck to do endless bounty contracts which have you:

A)Kill a Bandit Leader.

B)Kill a Corrupted Leader.

C)Kill the Necromancer Leader

I have talked to many npc's who seemingly have something to say but never end up saying anything unique, I understand this game "Early Access" so one should not expect all that many unique quests, however I thought the main quest would not leave me high and dry with nothing to do out of the blue. If this is indeed just a bug, then I would have to lose all my progress of 8 hours and start again as this game does not allow multiple save files.

If you are interested in this game, I suggest you whislist and follow the updates and dev blogs as they roll out. There is certainly huge potential here but do not purchase in hopes of losing yourself in a new fresh rpg.

I feel disgusted at Paradox for swindling me into getting this barren wretch of a game, but even more disgusted at myself to be so foolish as to actually have faith in a new Paradox title.

Wait for updates, sales, perhaps even DLC.

Just don't buy this game in it's current form.
