The game was fun but sadly the developers would rather chase Apex money then keep the community they had. The jetpacks were critical to my enjoyment of this game and without them it's not fun anymore.

I quit during Season 3 and tried the game again during Season 6. I have played a grand total of about 700 hours since the initial launch of Overwatch. A lot of people here are talking about the monetization and Blizzard but the game itself leaves a lot to be desired.

They moved it to 5v5 by taking away a tank without taking into consideration how certain mechanics like healing, sniping, counterpicking and flanking would need to be balanced for it. Healing is just as powerful despite the removal of one tank leading to the need for very high bursts to kill anyone. Snipers offer more value than ever. This is because there's one less tank meaning you can't dedicate say a Winston to Widow/Hanzo. Then there's the simple fact that one less team member means a single instagib is that much more hurtful. Tanking might as well be a switchfest now. If the other tank counters you there is literally nothing you can do but counter them back or lose. The removal of CC and a Tank you could use to peel have made flankers stronger then ever. These changes make a significant chunk of the roster next to useless.

Their game balancing doesn't really help any of these problems either. The updates have been a miss after miss since they never address the fundamental problems. They like to give heroes that they think are interesting competitively, but the community seems to largely dislike, slaps on the wrist at best. Hanzo is the best example of this. After all the complaints about his projectiles near randomly one shotting constantly they nerf him so he doesn't one shot two additional DPS.

The additional game modes are mid at the best. Their new favorite problem is having maps with spawn points so far away that it's a 500 mile trek just to get back into combat. Both of the new modes have a crazy amount of snowballing and that's largely because they feel like they aren't made with most MMR ranges in mind. I'm in Diamond and people still routinely have trouble grouping together. According to the last statistics I saw I'm already in the top 25% of the playerbase. So when does that problem end? When can I actually enjoy a round of push that isn't a lost cause after the first lost team fight because people keep solo pushing? It makes solo queue feel like a mess.

This isn't even getting into the tertiary issues like the monetization. I'm perfectly fine spending on MTX. I would have no issues with how they're doing MTX if they were only selling new skins. What bothers me specifically is they took the content you could get for free in OW1 and decided to try to sell it off piece by piece. Just to reiterate this isn't new cosmetics. This isn't something they just created that they're trying to profit off of. This is old content we had easily available access too cut out and then readded with a $10+ price tag on top of it. It's absolutely pathetic.

Just to add salt into the wound they cancelled the entire reason this was called OW2 in the first place. You know the full scale horde mode PVE shooter. Then they glued together the remains to sell you a seasonal archive mission pack for $15. You know something that was completely free in OW1. More to the point though I can't think of a single free to play game that has ever tried to profit off selling game modes before. Imagine if Valorant tried to sell you Team Deathmatch. It's absolute garbage.

It's pretty sad too because OW1 was a really good game prior to the 2.0 update. When they flipped the switch and launched the 2.0 update the game went from fun to annoying.
