Used to be fun back in the day. Now it's too infested with Cheaters, Hackers, and Bots. Not fun, unplayable mess.
Valve fix this or delete the game.

Cultic is a fast and vicious good time. The speed, the brutality, the gory action all satisfy any boomer-shooter fan.

The guns hit hard and fast with big booming sound. Plenty of upgrades and alt-fire make them even more devastating!

The enemies have a good variety and are a treat to splatter all over the floor. Headshots are so chunky and juicy and nothing beats tossing a tnt bundle into a crowd, blasting them all in a fireball of death.

The levels have are really well designed with secrets to collect and encounters to slaughter. Easy to navigate, no Fear of getting lost here.

The music fits the atmosphere perfectly. Going from scary and haunting to explosive and bombastic!

Overall this is a must have for any Boomer-shooter fan looking for some Bloody good ripping. 9/10

TL:DR Axiom Verge is a beautiful well-made tribute to Metroidvania games. Perfect for fans of Samus and Metroid and well worth your money.

Lets get reviewing!

Axiom Verge is a mastercraft that feels right at home along side any Metroid game from Nintendo. Having played through multiple times this is a must have for any avid Metroid enthusiast.

Controls: Controls feel clean and precise. Running, gunning and jumping all feel responsive and easy. There is a slight problem with the dash power sometimes feeling tricky to pull off or activating when you don't mean to; however this doesn't hurt gameplay.

Gameplay: Familiar to any Metroid veteran. Run, jump, explore, and collect upgrades scattered around many maps. There's a dozen or more of guns to use, always giving you a new way to fight enemies. Tons of powerups to open new areas. Bosses feel challenging but fair. Try different guns. Some work better on different bosses.

Story: The story is an intriguing mystery to be solved. Why are you on this alien world? It keeps you hooked to the end and doesn't stop. Lots of twists and surprises to keep you wanting to know more.

Graphics: Graphics are a gorgeous pixel art style that's fun to view. Bright vivid caverns, dark eerie tombs, and lush gardens await on this alien planet.

Music: The music is wonderful medley that fits the current mood. Heavy synth styles set the atmosphere. Somber and mysterious. Energetic and fast. Slow and gentle. Dark and haunting. Every zone has its own track that is a joy to listen to. And boss themes get you pumped for a fight!

Overall this game is fantastic and I'm glad I got to play it. A true Masterpiece of Metroidvania that'd make Samus proud!

Early Access Review
Tl:dr Dusk is a fantastic game with fast combat, tight controls, head-banging music, beautiful and intricate maps, and some truly WICKED enemies to kill. Well worth my $20. 10/10 bullets would shoot again!

Full review of all episodes below. WARNING! Minor spoilers discussed. Read at your own risk!! Focuses on campaign only.
I bought the game a few months before Halloween of 2018 and got Ep. 3 early. Thank you Devs!

Dusk is a wonderful throw-back to old school shooters. No long tutorials, cutscenes or exposition. Just you, some guns, and a whole lotta monsters to kill! Let's review.

Gameplay:
Dusk's gameplay is quick and precise. Running, jumping, gunning, and, sliding all feel fast yet never out of your control.
The weapons all feel fairly powerful. From the starting sickles, to the dual pistols, to the heavy Rivet cannon and of course the ever-classic double barreled Super shotgun.

Graphics:
The devs have made a great art style for the game. They strike a fair balance between detail and simplicity. All enemies are distinct from one another. What's even better is the amount of customization the player has.
You can change everything from hue and color saturation to pixelization and everything in-between.

Music:
The music is beautiful to listen to and matches the moment to moment gameplay perfectly. It's shifts from slow quiet ambient themes during exploration to heavy bass-pound tracks as you rip down hordes of foes!
There's even moments of silence to reinforce feelings of dread and unease.

Maps:
All the maps are wonderfully made. They're not so small they become boring but aren't so vast you get lost. The pace is set perfectly so you'll have adrenaline pumping moments of action and slower moments to catch your breath.
Secrets are scattered through each level to make exploration worthwhile and keep you stocked for the next big fight. And fun little Easter eggs of course. Rumor even has it there's
3 secret levels, 1 in each episode. you'll have to find them yourself though 😉.

Enemies:
Each of the enemies is unique and fun to kill. From the lowly possessed soldiers, to my personal favorite the Wendigos, to other hellish abominations of death and fear. They each have distinct sounds so if you listen closely you can plan for the battle ahead of time.
Bosses are big and imposing, testing your skills and reflexes without feeling cheap and unfair.

Overall the Devs did a fantastic job. The game is tons of fun with lots of replay value. It'll even have a workshop for player-made content at launch and a co-op mode for the campaign soon after.
This will add even more to how great a game it is.

Thanks to all the hard working people who made this game possible. 10/10 shotgun shells. See you at Dusk my fellow demon slayers!

I watch a LOT of Homestarrunner back in the day and lemme tell you this is even better than the cartoons.

This is the Homestarrunner game I always wanted. It feels real Nostalgic seeing the gang. And each episode is only better than the last. If you're a fan of Homestar and the rest this is a must have series!
