Recent patch literally destroys and ruins this game on Steam. Original soundtack is gone, save files mysteriously disappear, and the resolution is wrecked.

Do not buy this game. I repeat, DO NOT buy this now unstable game on Steam. Buy an original hardcopy free of mandatory online updates.

I wish Steam had ratings for their games because this one is sinking faster than Activision's profit margins. Truly a tragedy.

Let me start off by saying that Left for Dead 2 is not what many would say is a "GOOD" game, which is why I only have 30 hours on it. But it's not a BAD game either. It's meant to be a FUN game. Lots of cool guns, melee weapons, meds, and plenty of "zombies" to blow the brains out of. The game has a high cool factor but lacks a lot of qualities found in AAA titles. For example, there is no storyline. There are two sets of survivors (4 in each) that you can pick from and play as. You choose from nearly 2 dozen campaigns, in which you can stop and start at any time, order, or place without saving or making any real progress. The dialogue gets very old, with the characters saying the same lines over and over again, even in multiplayer.

And the bane of this game, the dreaded Community. Although multiplayer is really where the game comes alive, stupid people have done a great lot to spoil it.

Yes, rage quitters are everywhere, which I believe Valve anticipated because it says in the description it's best played with friends. You know, the guys who won't call you a killjoy or an f** for singe-handedly taking down a Tank or getting the most kills in the campaign. It's also a shame that friendly fire is on without option to change it. Occasionally you can get with three other epic gents who communicate properly allowing you to beast the campaign with ease. You can also find mod servers where player quality is generally a bit higher. But again, if you can get your friends to buy it, this game will never get old.

Even though it's approaching 6 years of age, I still find it to be a refreshing experience. Some say It's easy to get burnt out on which is why I only play it once a month or so.

In conclusion, I would say for it to be worth $20 if you are really into Zombie FPS. If the concept is new to you, wait for it go on sale for $4.99 and pick it up - I reccomend it.
