Caliber is a neat little tactical tps which is suprisingly fun and engaging for a ftp but I stopped playing it with the points i will bring up below, there is TLDR at the bottom. With that said lets start with
THE GOOD:
-Fair monetization system for a ftp game, cosmetics/convenience only.
-Great firefights with emphasis on teamwork.
-PvE,PvP-PvE(yes) and pvp, nieche gamemodes alongside them.
-Tons of cool looking and ability unique operators with different playstyles, "free" unlockable camos with *earned* curency, every operator is unlockable.
-PvE missions are really enjoyable.
-Lots of thought put behind map design which is appreciated.
-You don't have to pay a penny and won't have to worry about being gatekeeped from playing but...
THE BAD:
-GRIND , don't get me wrong i love a good sweaty grind from time to time since I played WoW and League and believe me when i tell you this type of grind is NEXT level tedious, lemme explain a bit : You need dosh for operators which are expensive (150-200k) and then you have the skills you can unlock which -you guessed it- cost that same earned currency and are really expensive for no real reason and you NEED to max out SOME operators that are pure garbage unupgraded and that wouldn't be a problem if it didn't take you whole day of *PURE* and tedious grind which nets you snot and a twigs if you take into account at least a few operators that you will choose and play(probably upgrade as well). And I even played with the freemium they tossed at me from the start, couldn't imagine how insufferable the grind is without it because it already is with it.
-Matches are short. The most fun and engaging part of the game is the game itself ey? "So let's have players spend as little as possible in them -Probably 1C dev, somewhere." I can't put into words how garbage it actually feels to spend 2 minutes in que, 2 minutes picking operators and another minute for the map to load only to spend 4 minutes in the match... Yeah.. Some gamemodes are longer but the main "competitive" one is abysmaly short and you WILL spend more time in the main menu then in game and i can't fanthom why? Yes, they can go on longer than that but it rarely happens that teams are evenly matched, even then the most fun part is already over , clocking in WOPPING 8 minutes. PvE are longer and really fun tho so there's that.
-Servers are bingo's essantialy, will you get a good one with a solid ping or a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ one with 300? You never know, but your ass will be penalized if you leave so there's that.
-GAME DOESNT WAIT FOR EVERYONE TO CONNECT and this is big problem for me, I mean cmon?? All that time in the main menu only to load 30-40 seconds into the match giving the opposing team unfair advantage and yes, it happens in ranked as well.. To a lot of players, not just me and it happens EVERY. OTHER. GAME. IN A COMPETITIVE SHOOTER. My only explanation for it is crack cocaine and lack of regional servers maybe, who knows?

TLDR:
Game has a big potential to become great and is already fun as it is, but the insufferable grind will make you question whether or not your dog is still alive by the time it will take you to actually unlock half of the stuff present(premium doesnt help, buying currency does and its a *BIT* expensive, triple A expensive for a few operators really and there are 60).
Not p2w, overall gameplay IS fun if you ignore the bad, if it piques your interest even a lil bit give it a whirl see for yourself but the devs are really giving it their all to obnoxiosly force you into spending instead of making the game as smooth and enjoyable as possible. I gave it thumbs up since steam doesn't have a mid rating.
