This is a REALLY pretty game and it has nice and snappy gameplay, Insomniac have done amazing as usual. If you are an existing Ratchet and Clank fan, or are new to the series and enjoy 3D shooter-platformers, then you will enjoy this game.

The photo mode and level of HUD/accessibility customisation I thought was really cool and its not something you see in every game.

Now, this was an awesome game, and I've completed the main story and got all collectables in non-Challenge Mode, but there are various things where the newer Ratchet and Clank games don't live up to the originals, what I can think of right now I've listed below. But, PLEASE do not let this dissuade you from playing Rift Apart, it really is a fantastic game, and is easily one of the best in the Ratchet and Clank series.

My thoughts on Rift Apart vs the PS2 games:

- No classic David Bergeaud soundtrack. At least 50% of what made the PS2 games fantastic was the background music. Newer R&C games have had a more generic action/sci-fi/orchestral soundtrack. It sounds like there was some falling out between David and Insomniac, nice Reddit post about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RatchetAndClank/comments/v0wgg0/i_actually_contacted_david_bergeaud_about/

- Character writing. Ratchet and Clank themselves are much more generic heroes in the newer games compared to the PS2 games (especially compared to the very first game). The titular characters don't get anymore development in this game, which I think is in part due to the introduction of Rivet and Kit (which do come across as more interesting characters) and because this game is kinda a soft reboot (it is technically the next game in the 'main' continuity since 2013's Into The Nexus, so it has been a while since that story has been picked up). Character writing for other main characters isn't that interesting either (Qwark, Nefarious, etc).

- Key elements of Nefarious' character have been lost. In this game: he doesn't malfunction and broadcast Lance and Janice; Lawrence does not show up; Nefarious has become increasingly less menacing every time he is used again in a game (reminds me of the Borg in Star Trek) and he doesn't actually do much (in both A Crack In Time and Rift Apart he has a cool opening, but then just bums around in his space station/base until the end).

- Qwark hardly appears :( This might be due to Jim Ward not voice acting him anymore, but nevertheless he hardly shows up in this game.

- The humour is not edgy like the PS2 games. The games have become much more kid friendly, while in the PS2 games it did an excellent job of being a kids game while incorporating adult humour.

- The collectables don't feel like they are hard to find. The gold bolts and armour pieces in this game don't require much effort to get. I'd say the CraiggerBears are the 'true' gold bolts of Rift Apart.

He is my neighbour Overwatch.

He is pain in my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I get a fun cast of characters, he must get a fun cast of characters.

I get a ton of hats, he must get a ton of hats.

I get a lively playerbase, he cannot afford.

Great success!

This game... 'experience' rather... is fantastical. Your emotions will be tingled, whether you are happy, sad, angry or crazy, you will feel emotions.
The best way to play this game is completely and utterly spoiler free, trust me you will have the best experience this way. When you get close to the end, you may think its over, but it is not... the surprises keep coming.

p.s Try to play through this game slowly, soaking every little detail that Toby Fox have intricately woven into it.

Good God this game is brilliant!
However you do need to install the unofficial patch to get it working (and get bonus content, thank you Wesp5).

I definitely recommend this, whether you are familliar with White Wolf's World of Darkness or not, you will learn about it soon enough.

11/10 :)
