As cool as this game is, it has its flaws that can drastically harm one's experience. New players entering the game for the first time have a lot put on them at once- figuring out the controls, scavenging for your first weapon, collecting food to handle a quickly draining hunger meter, having to collect basic recipes from enemies, and having to spend a lot of wood building a house to just get some peace and quiet. You basically have to ignore hunger until you have a sustainable source of food, in which it hardly becomes a problem afterwards.
While learning how to fight each enemy optimally feels rewarding, magic attacks are so slow to charge and bows are resource intensive early-game. While bows are good against big boss fights, arrows have a tiny hitbox that are hard to aim at most common enemies. Magic hardly seems useful at all- unlike swords and bows, you have to rely entirely on the skill tree to improve its damage while also constantly switching between the right skills and continuously using magic restoration items.
Although most bosses are well-structured, there's a vine-based boss that's just so awful. The first phase has harsh timing, and the second phase has a twirling obstacle that can easily trap you in a corner and drain your health. The other bosses were enjoyable to face, but this was a nightmare to face and was so unrewarding.
While its hard to praise this game, I cannot deny I enjoyed my time playing it. The town you start the game in is completely destroyed, and progression will save villagers and restore buildings. The simple snowman aesthetic is charming, and the characters in the forest arc of the game have good character depth and I felt worried for their safety. When the credits rolled, I almost shed a tear.
Overall, the game fluctuates between good and bad design. I love this game and I want to play around with every character, but there are glaring issues at hand and plenty of optional things to do that don't feel rewarding.

3 upgrade paths provide unique strategies and different usages for the same tower. Heroes aren't too intrusive, but at the same time they don't quite feel that good.
