Positives:
- The puzzles in the first part get challenging, but you can figure them out with a little effort and I never found them particularly frustrating. It's hard to find that good balance for puzzles, but Helltaker did well.
- The music is spot-on. Simple bops to help your timing and entertain you while you work.
- Art is great, from the sprites to the levels to the character portraits everything is crisp and stylized.
- The last chapter was definitely my favorite part of the game. I went back to play it a couple times because of the music and mechanics. That style of gameplay is appealing to me, but I was a sucker for Crypt of the NecroDancer so yeah.

Negatives:
- The hint system is mislabeled. I didn't need help until the last puzzle and didn't know I was missing banter between the characters the whole game. Also, when you need help, the hints aren't informative. Your only remaining option is to look up a guide (or skip the level), which I thought was scummy and didn't end up doing. I probably spent another 5 minutes staring at that last puzzle before I worked it out.

This is probably my favorite game of the year right here. I went into it expecting to have fun with a sidescrolling shooter and a little story, but now I find myself a Diehard Yoko Taro fan, having now played the entire Drakengarde series and the original NieR:Gestalt right after finishing this.

Reasons to buy:
-OH MY GOD THE MUSIC IS ORGASMIC! They made up an entire language for this series based off of what they interpret Earth's bastardized languages to sound like millions of years later, named the Chas Language or Angelic depending where you look. It lets you listen to a greatvocalist without distracting from the game itself.

-Great, fulfilling campaign. I played the entire game in a weekend and I wanted more as soon as I finished it.
-Hours of sidequesting and extras to find.
-A completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ plot line never hurt anyone and it's exactly what I needed as a break from the normal stuff I was playing. (Fun fact, Yoko Taro writes almost exclusively while drunk, so you know it'll be good.)
-2 B O O T Y
-Ran extremely well on my PC and the only bug I found got patched really fast.
-The way this game interconnects with its predecessors. You can play only this game and nothing else and get almost everything eventually (except for Devola and Popola's story), or you can play (or watch ValkyrieAurora's content on) the rest of the games, and get SO much more enjoyment, "Whoaaa" moments, and the like. No matter what, you WILL get enjoyment from the game, though.
-The fanart and community is amazing. Just go look at what's been made for this game and all the people who love it.

-This game is perfect, seriously.
-All the characters are perfect little cinammon rolls
-No sequel is scheduled yet...
-Yeah just go buy it.
