Bungie is too busy with their cringe political activism to create a competent product. Maybe we needed Activision after all.
They seem to place greater development attention on supporting the "current thing" rather that supporting the game and sincerely interacting with user feedback. Bungie is obviously not incompetent; the base gameplay is good, and there have been times where players universally praised the direction for D2 (Forsaken, Season of Opulence). Since, it feels like every update is one step forward, six backward, plus the """"vaulting"""" (aka deletion) of PAID CONTENT.
The seasonal model is dry and boring. Every season is the same formula, with a boring and repetitive six player pve activity, something breaking the pvp sandbox, a decent story kneecapped by a weekly dripfeed release in uninteresting missions, all topped off by either a raid, exotic mission, or (ADDITIONALLY PAYWALLED) dungeon that reminds you that Destiny CAN be good if not for the sheer malevolence Bungie exudes towards gamers in every other aspect of the game.
Its insulting, the disregard Bungie has for the playerbase who are either hopelessly addicted to this opiate drip called Destiny, or complete sycophants who eat up every rainbow-flag dyed product like good consoomers. Many of us veteran players who have been around since 2014, with thousands upon thousands of hours across multiple platforms, have slowly left. I've been holding out hope for years that Bungie will change course and rekindle the magic that Destiny had, that Bungie would have some introspection and reconsider their direction as a company. Forsaken brought back so many people for that reason. Now here we are, a new premium DLC release at $50, with the expectation that you will then pay for each season after that, and also pay separately for dungeons that should be included with the season, all for Bungie to blow that money on donations to whatever new groomer charity pops up.
Don't play this game. Bungie doesn't respect you or your time. Thanks for reading, and I hope my rant is helpful for someone out there.
