I really want to like this game, and there is a lot of potential here. The third and fourth acts are significantly more interesting and enjoyable than the other two. However, it definitely need some major overhauls.

For one, as every other review will mention, there are some game breaking bugs that do actually make this game unplayable. On my first attempted playthrough, the red key disappeared in the third act and it autosaved before I noticed. Inexplicably, the second and third acts remained locked despite me already being on the third act. I spent a few hours looking for the key before I ragequit and uninstalled.

I calmed down and reinstalled the game but there are still plenty of bugs and glitches you can read about elsewhere in the reviews, the most egregious being the tram in the third act. Don't even bother trying to operate it from the inside. Anyway, on to some more issues of the game. After getting caught the first time, the neighbor just isn't scary. There are some other scares to be found, but honestly you could remove the neighbor entirely and it would probably make the game better. The neighbor basically exists to chase you around and annoy you and send you back to the beginning of the level if and when you're caught. You don't lose your items or progress so there's really no incentive to avoid him. He definitely does "learn," but all that really means is he'll sulk around the area you need to be so objectives just take longer to accomplish.

The story is also nonsensical. I didn't really mind that because I was playing more for the platforming/puzzle solving elements but it just goes to show that the neighbor could be removed completely and it wouldn't affect the game whatsoever.

As for the good: it really is a beautiful game. I love the art style. And it works really well as a platformer/kind of 3D point-and-click puzzle solver game (think House Party, there are probably better examples) when it is working and not glitching out. There is a lot of content to be found if you can get that far. If the glitches weren't so frustrating I would actually be interested in replaying because I know there are some secrets I missed. Also the dummies in the fear rooms and the shadow creature, whatever that was, actually provide some decent scares.

I wish the neighbor operated more like the alien in Alien: Isolation and there was actually some incentive to avoid him. The lost and found box should also contain quest items that you found and dropped, rather than just contain items that glitched out of the map.

Another thing I should mention is this game doesn't hold your hand, at all. Some people familiar with the genre might like that, but there is absolutely no way I could have completed this game without a walkthrough. Also, you get some very useful powerups later in the game but the game doesn't bother telling you that.

I'm rambling now so I will finish up. TL;DR: gorgeous game with a ton of wasted potential to be a great platformer/puzzle/horror game, bogged down by bad decisions and glitches. Can't recommend in its current state.
