If you're a person on the fence about getting this game, and you probably are since you're in the comment section, the number one question you gotta be asking yourself "does this concept work?" Does a city building rougelike work? It does. From a philosophy standpoint, if you're big into city builders, how many new files have you started where you want to try out a different civ or strategy? If you come from rougelikes, you might not instantly see the differences between runs initially but you certainly feel them when you are in game. The two genres seem like they could not be further apart, but the cyclical nature of the gameplay and that "one more run" aspect is present in both. Not only that, I think Eremite Games found themselves an untapped gold mine of a genre AND executed their vision above and beyond. The game play loop is satisfying. It appeals to casual and hardcore gamers. And Eremite did a fabulous job with the on-boarding process for people coming from exclusively Rougelike or City Builder fan bases. There is a lot of polish on this game for a 5 man studio and while that's not a requirement in indie development, it is certainly a plus. Again, all this quality in an unexplored genre. HUGE recommendation from me. If you are remotely interested in this game, I would give it a shot.

Great blend of rougelike elements and colony management. Few games fuse random events and city building and this game does it well. Highly recommend it for anyone whose looking for fresh challenges with thoughtful planning.
