A game filled with charm, love, and not a single unlikable character, Potionomics is a game for those who love substantial, no frills game-play in both its deck-building and resource management.

This review may be a smidge biased, as I have been looking forward to this game for 2 years now. However before reviewing, I wanted to 100% it, as I rarely do this for most games, only the ones I truly care about and can talk about for ages, and this games joins that exclusive club. Not that it would mean much to whoever reads this

There is a million things to love in this indie title, including its art, characters, backgrounds, mechanics, and customizable potion shop, and a great albeit with obvious twists story revolving around Sylvia the potions witch, inheriting a debt of obscene proportions from her uncle, along with his potion shop. As the game progresses you slowly get introduced to different mechanics and services that allow you to play in any way you want, with no need to settle for any one way (mostly). You could use all of them, or only blessed Muktuk, Quinn, and Mint. Or eventually, you can skip Mint and follow the gambling life of a pirate, trading catnip for chests filled with random ingredients, and never worry about Mint getting hurt again. You could even eventually grow your own ingredients and save crazy amounts of money while being somewhat self-sustainable. The best way to play is to befriend everyone though, as they'll lovingly give you haggling tips that'll add crazy diversity into your deck building, as well as coupons for insane discounts.

However a sad part is that the game has haggling resources, which means your deck usually needs a set amount of certain cards, like shields or stress reduction. Luckily, the game does let you bust the claws for to absolutely shred through patience like a steel beam in a hurricane; The Arena, aka the end goal of the game. You have to win all five these in order to win the game, and they let you do it any way you want. Nothing felt better to me in this game then destroying my opponent with my clearly superior potion, and even better when I didn't even need to debate them.

When I first bought this game, there was very little I'd want changed about it, and in its latest update, those quality of life changes have been added with an insanely in-depth filter for both potion brewing and friendship making, making the last patches task of filtering ingredients manually, one-by-one, a thing of the past. This change, along with amazing animations, models, and unique dialogue with characters shows that the developers care greatly for this game, and in doing so, deserves a lot of attention, and twice as much love.

Please add a guild map to the shop and travel menu though, my memory is garbage and I can never remember what potions go with which biome.

This is the only game I've ever gotten to 100% completion, and still wanted to play after accomplishing that
