Dragon's Dogma 2 is just a huge upgrade from Dragon's Dogma 1.
Super fun, crisp gameplay with plenty of quests and enviroments to lose yourself in.
While a lot of peoples issues are valid, the MTX is taken wildy out of proportion. All the things you can purchase are obtainable within the first few hours of gameplay. Heck, the 2$ character edit can be purchased from the pawn guild for 500 rift crystals that can come from goblin bodies. They're for those who are just lazy and can't help open their wallet for convenience. DMC5 had them too. While annoying that they exist, it is wholly ignorable.
The performance isn't amazing, but it isn't bad especially if you actually take the time to mess around with all the settings. The worst and most noticable is in the capital, where the fps tanks pretty hard. Should be patched soon, but only time will tell.
Denuvo I cannot justify. Bad move, unfortunately.

It's a really good game, if you liked DD1 you'll like DD2. Is it worth the 65$/95$/however many monopoly monies it costs? Maybe not, up you you how badly you want it. Safe to say there'd be a benefit to waiting a good month or until its on sale.

is good, i loved RoR1 and this just made me fall back in love (not that i fell out of it in the first place though)

Edit: after more than a year and 700 more hours into it, the game has finally come out of early access after many patches and updates that have furthered the replayability and has fixed the issues that existed so long ago. i will briefly note some things that i've noticed on a run by run basis that makes playing the game more fun or easier to understand

- One Shot Protection (OSP) being shown on the UI
the updated OSP visual makes risky play a little more reliable, as you can tell whenever you can get into sketchy situations knowing you have that little bit of protection to back you up, especially when the new OSP gives you 0.1 seconds of invulnerability which can save you in a lot of situations, even if you don't notice it (though do not try to rely on this too much, now it can and will bite you in the rear if you make an error)

- The New Items
every new update always brought new items and new metas with it, which made the final product feel like there are millions of combinations and different synergies that you can find randomly through-out thousands if not millions of runs. every item feels unique and has some sort of neat design to it, especially the greens and reds. the game allows you to make use of any item, whether they are declared 'bad' or 'good' to most

- The Character Diversity
Risk of Rain is no stranger to character identity, and Risk of Rain 2 is no different. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses, and with that they have their own unique playstyles and limits. For instance, the Artificer (unlocked in the Newt shop with 10 lunar coins) is really excellent at AoE (area of effect) crowd control, as well as single target dps and AoE burst damage. With that she can easily take out Elites and Bosses while still being able to take care of small fodder. And with a pro comes a con! She cannot handle too many flying enemies, and enemies when they are spread out juuust enough to get out of her AoE range

- The End (((SPOILERS)))
With the last update now out, the end of the game is now here. And god is it ever and ending. I will try my best not to spoil too much, but do be warned. The end is not only a good fight, but also an amazing finally to the story that began sometime seven years ago in the first game. The fight not only uses every thing you've learned through the game against you but it flips it on its end in the final phase. The boss design and mechanics feel fitting for the game and especially the games finale. Of course there are some issues with the final area, especially soft lock island, and the final phase being a bit of a wall for some players. But for me, I personally find the final phase to be fitting and can be 'easily' trumped via a good build and expecting it to occur

and with that, my review is done! it is currently 5:46 AM as I am writing this and I don't think I have the brain power to continue. overall, this game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ masterpiece. and to think that they won't stop updating it makes me tear up. overall, i give it a

It's fairly P2W and has pretty punishing RNG, but I can't say it wasn't a good experience. 5/10
