This game is a rush. A really good breath a fresh air away from the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ CoD ripoffs I've seen time and time again. This game seamlessly blends elements from games like Blood, Hexen, Doom, Quake, and many other games, while still keeping a fresh atmosphere. As the wise man Civvie 11 said: "It doesn't make me want to tweeze my grundle hairs out."

Turok 2, being a game i fondly grew up with as a kid, was the best game i had ever played at that time. While i agree that it's still fun today, there's still some things about it that needed changed. When i heard about the remaster, BOY was i excited! So after playing the remaster for a while, i feel like i'm ready to make a review about it, but first...

Minor Gripes i have about the Remake
1. the remake soundtrack sounds really dynamic, yes, but in some places like the Izzy Intro, i like the N64 soundtrack more.
2. The Multiplayer Mode, something i was actually looking forward to when i bought it, is unfortunately not too populated.

Now, for the real Pros and Cons that matter in terms of how the game is played.
Pros.
The game on N64 was notorious for slow framerate, even with the Expansion Pack. On PC, it runs like i dreamed it would. You zip around the map much faster, something akin to Quake, and the animations are more fluid and less choppy.
Something not a lot of remasters do is give you a choice between the original OST and remake OST. Turok 2 has that, and i love both of them.
The game is very fast paced and full of things to do, and there will always be enemies to fight.
The weapon variety is amazing, ranging from Pistols and Shotguns, right to Plasma Rifles, Cerebral Bores, and much more.
The HD redesigns for the models are awesome. My personal favorites are the Primagen and Zombies (Deadkin officially).
Adon will actually mock you if you put in cheats! Something not done in games nowadays (Voice Lines include: "You should be ashamed of yourself!" "Ooooh, does that make you feel GOOD?!" and "Ay carumba!")

Cons.
When you aren't fighting, you'll most likely get lost. A lot.
Something I actually hoped they would do in the remaster is add objective markers or a compass on the HUD directing you to objectives. While there are markers, they only show up when you get close to specific items.
The weapon's ammo limits can be annoying at times, leading to times where you'll run out mid-battle.
Some enemies are too hard to kill, especially in the earlier levels when you have limited weapons.
Leading off with the enemies, the Deadkin's projectile attack is ANNOYING. No matter how much you dodge, you'll get hit no matter what unless you hide.

My final verdict: Despite the problems, the game is a blast. I loved the N64 version, and the remake does it so much justice, that i would honestly prefer this over the original. If you want to play a solid FPS but can't get Quake, this is the game for you. And if you're just looking for a modern way to play Turok 2, old fans will be happy.
9.5/10
