Compared to the original Desktop Dungeons, this remaster is a downgrade, but still probably worth playing if you're a new player who enjoys a deep, satisfying, puzzle-like experience. The strategy and depth the game offers is still present, but...

- The 3d models are nice, and so are the animations, but having the map be scrollable/zoomed in feels pointless. Not being able to see the entire map at once makes it so you can't easily see what resources/shops/enemies you have available.
- In addition, the visual design for enemies, shops, and a lot of other things aren't as clear as in the original game; shops and subdungeons in particular seem to blend into the environment way too much. The items being at the bottom are also not nearly as visually appealing as the old system (The old one had a nice D&D style "Glue item here" theme going on, and it also didn't clutter the screen as much).
- The UI for showing your health/enemy health, as well as combat simulation, is a bit annoying. While its nice that you can see fairly easily what debuffs/buffs you're getting on your next hit, I feel all the information (enemy hp, your hp, attack type, resistances, etc), is spread too far apart. I'm constantly moving my eyes left and right to check the HP thresholds of myself and the enemy.
- Theres some UX issues as well w/ the main world hub; the most annoying one is the lack of a back button in the tavern after selecting a dungeon. You can't select the eastern dungeons afterwards, as the initial dungeon info is blocking it...
- Crashes seem to be happen occasionally; the triple quests w/ the goatglades sometimes crashes in between dungeons, meaning your earlier run was essentially wasted.
? The rewind mechanic is interesting; it allows for a free "scouting" of the dungeon if you want to use it that way, or as a backup option if you mess up an attack.
+ I appreciate the balance and QOL changes that were made; the addition of showing enemies 1 tile into the fog was a nice addition, and some of the underperforming classes were also buffed.
+ Some original DLC (goatglade) was added in for free! They also gave the entire game for free for original owners, which is nice.

Now, while it seems like i'm complaining a lot, its more because the original game was really really good. I had a few hundred hours in the original + the extreme edition mod. And all of good dialogue/dungeon design/puzzles/content are still there. It just feels disappointing that this remaster doesn't feel as polished as the original.
