I'm gonna be honest here, I yo-ho'd this game a long while back because I was in a spot where I had a bit more time than money. But playing it for even just a few hours I knew that at some point I had to support this game eventually because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is it fun. Unlocking everything and seeing new potential strategies open up was a great draw in the beginning, but once the ascensions rack up the genuine challenge is just so entertaining. I spent a great number of hours just trying to make meme strats work at higher difficulties or hoping to get certain silly relic combos. It really didn't get old
But maybe a month ago(?) I actually bought the game. And sure, it was kinda sad to see all that progress go, but there was a new character in the beta! It was so different from everybody I'd played with so far, and now there was a whole extra act on top of everything I thought was already an incredible experience. The game was more balanced, had more content, and an actual end to work for! But, but, while it was great to play the real game after waiting for so long, that was nothing compared to the power of m o d s.
There is so much content. In a game already saturated with replayability, there's a huuuge community of awesome people out there making all sorts of things for the game, everything from adding hundreds of cards, relics, enemies, and events to putting googly eyes on all the art. And I do mean all the art. And the community in general is just so amazing? Like, fan art, fun strategies, memes, wholesome guides, the whole works. Very inspiring stuff to come out of a deckbuilding game where some of the most exciting things are finding a stick or an ice cream cone.
tl;dr The game is really good and thicc with content and replayability. Folks that play it have a nice community too. Would recommend
