I'm pretty late to playing this game and I played it solo.

Game was only designed and balanced for 4 player couch co-op. No matter how many players are in the game, you will need to take care of 6 children. You can't pass the level unless at least 4 children are alive because they are score multipliers. The side objectives give almost no points, yet some are mandatory to progress. Some levels have almost insta-kill hazards that ruin the game.

Dev studio talked about a possible bug fixes and balance patch in the game discussions, but abandoned the game and disbanded before releasing anything. According to SteamDB, last game update was Nov 2017, but the dev was responding in discussions until May 2018, and their last Twitter post was in Sept 2018.

TL;DR - Dev studio gone. Game flopped and abandoned. Not worth your time. Play any other party game.

Early Access Review
Fully captures everything great about the first Risk of Rain, but this time in 3D:
  • Levels scale well with time spent
  • Unique characters
  • Terrific soundtrack
  • Good replayability
One of the devs that can do Early Access right.
Can't wait for new items and survivors.

P.S. Huntress is best girl

Been playing this game since the release of Rage of Bahamut (December 2016) and I've seen the meta go from "not too bad" to "all the same". With the newest expansion of Wonderland Dreams, I decided to make a review for this game. Here's my list of pros and cons as a casual player in rank A0 (ranked goes from D0-3->C0-3->B0-3->A0-3->AA0-3->Masters->Grandmaster)

Pros:
-Great artwork (many waifus and husbandos for everyone)
-Very stylish card animations
-Decent ratio of amount of playtime to cards gained
-Evolve system is interesting and helps with tempo swings
-Distinct play styles for each of the seven classes
-Fast games?

Cons:
-Fast games = lose faster if you don't have a meta deck
-Very meta heavy with almost no room for fun decks
-Unranked and ranked are the same meta decks
-Wonderland Dreams made every class implement Neutrals
-Balance patches every couple months

See where most of my cons are? As a casual player, I dislike playing the meta decks, and would rather be creative and make my own. At this point, it's a cycle of: new expansion -> people buy lots of packs -> new meta -> people buy packs to play the meta -> nerf old meta -> release new expansion. There are so many interesting cards that are ignored because this game is so heavily dominated by the tier 1 decks.

TL;DR: Play the meta or don't play at all
